NEW!
AMBULARSDreamers Asleep at the Wheel from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

The Ambulars first LP, "Dreamers Asleep At The Wheel" is a dense record, thick with heart-break, but bright with bits of indie-rock and power-pop that balance the brooding pop-punk of teenage hearts.

NEW!
ANDERSON, JASONOmaha from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Jason Anderson has been touring the country, and some of the world, for a little while now, playing anywhere and everywhere. His latest LP, Omaha, catalogs some of those wanderings, with big, open-hearted rock and roll that runs an eight song span from an opener soaked in distortion to a beautifully quiet closer.

NEW!
POTBOILERRolling Boil from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

11-song discography from a band whose members went on to be in Get Bent and Thousandaires. Lovely LP jackets!

NEW!
RADIATOR HOSPITALSomething Wild from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

"As Radiator Hospital, Sam Cook-Parrott makes imaginative indie pop befitting of his 22 years-- a guy who seems to have all stakes invested outwardly in matters of the heart while stuck too deep in his own head to make it work. His noisy power-pop and home-recorded blues draw from vintage bubblegum and soul as much as twee, injected with the high-pitched anxiety of his own persona, a crushed romantic with a mind always racing to no real finish line. "Everytime he calls you/ I can hear a change in your breath," Cook-Parrott sings on "Our Song", a most resonant highlight from his new Something Wild LP. He spits the words fast as the inner-logic of his brain. "Your voice is hushed and controlled/ Maybe you're just tired of straining your throat/ Or maybe there's something you don't want me to hear." That voice may faintly recall one of the year's best records - WAXAHATCHEE'S Cerulean Salt. Cook-Parrott sang on the LP's "Peace and Quiet" and has recently toured with Waxahatchee on bass. Something Wild on its own should appeal to fans of Waxahatchee's emotional candor and the smart pop-punk abandon of her sister Allison Crutchfield's band SWEARIN'. Fittingly, Allison sang on Wild cut "Are You Feeling Me?", and Swearin's Kyle Gilbride helped record the album at the house they all share in Philadelphia, as he did Cerulean Salt." -- Jenn Pelly / Pitchfork

NEW!
SWEARIN'Swearin' from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

The self-titled debut LP from New York/Philly's Swearin' is 12 songs of pop-punk and lo-fi that speeds along through catchy sing-a-longs, only to jar you with something just a bit off-kilter. Members of P.S. Eliot, Big Soda, Bad Blood & Radiator Hospital.
DELAYPlain Language from Salinas/Plan-It-X
Available in our NEW STORE!

Delay's sixth full length blitzes by, leaving you dizzy with thinking-person's melodies. If you thought you knew this Ohio band, this record deserves a close listen. The band have learned to squeeze a ton out of the bare bones three-piece with beautifully crafted guitar lines, and harmonies bouncing back and forth. It's sometimes a loaded statement to say a pop-punk band has matured, but 2009 was a good vintage for Delay.
DIRTY LOOKS / BOSSY from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Both bands are ex-Bent Outta Shape. Bossy is female-fronted three-piece pop, with clean guitar and light-hearted lyrics. Dirty Looks are melodic punk, and anything but light-hearted.
DRUNKEN BOATDrunken Boat from Salinas/1-2-3-4-Go!
Available in our NEW STORE!

Urgent, beautiful, rough around the edges, intelligent punk from Portland, OR. Possibly the best band of this style since Crimpshrine.

ERGS / MODERN MACHINES from Salinas

GIBBONSHope, Inc. from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Often compared to early Lawrence Arms, the Gibbons seamlessly blend the personal and political over melancholy chords, delivered with a sincere urgency.
HADITUPTOHERES, THEWild City, Honest Dancing from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

The Hadituptoheres are a three-piece punk band from Detroit, MI. Wild and honest are apt words for the title of their second full length. They sound like an urgent barrage of unguarded feeling, stripped as bare as the artwork on the record. The lyrics are almost Craig Finn-esque at times, a poetry as chaotic and unassumingly beautiful as their hometown, layered over a backbeat that sounds like a more bombastic Toys That Kill. Exploring punk's middle ground: not sugary, but far from macho. "Detroit is easy, baby!" Who's paying attention?
HALO FAUNADurak from Salinas/Dead Broke/Plan-It-X
Available in our NEW STORE!

The songs of singer / frequent songwriter Eric Ayotte (constantly on the road for one project or another) are given fresh dynamics in the full band setting. Along with Eric's minimally distorted guitar, the rhythm section of Dominic & Dave (If You Make It) combine to lend a stripped-down Weakerthans feel to these introspective songs. Honest, sometimes sentimental songwriting paired with an inviting sound.

HOP ALONGWretches from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Hop Along (previously known as Hop Along Queen Ansleis) has taken a big step forward with the songs on this 10". Though Frances' unique singing is still one of the highlights, but now she's playing with a full band. There's an epic quality to the songs, not just because they're longer than 4 minutes, but because the arrangements are so thoughtful and engaging.
HOT NEW MEXICANSIt's Called Leaning Back from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Finally on vinyl, six years later, The Hot New Mexicans debut full- length is a stripped down blend of punk, alt. country, and good old rock'n'roll. The Replacements and even really early Wilco come to mind. A little more mellow than their self-titled sophomore album.
KARATE FOR KIDS / FRAME from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Karate for Kids play wild-man political pop punk: sometimes reckless, but always poignant. Frame's side is intricate anthemic melodic punk.
LITTLE LUNGSHoist Me Up! from Salinas

P.S. ELIOTIntroverted Romance in Our Troubled Minds from Salinas

POTBOILERIzzy Alcantara from Salinas

Brooklyn via New Paltz party-punk that is actually quite complex and kind of dark under a closer inspection. Equally perfect for a rowdy basement show, or a lonesome night of record therapy.
SATALINO, CARA BETHThe Good Ones from Bakery Outlet/Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Solo album; Cara Beth Satalino from the band WITCHES. "Every now and then I'll find a surprise package of records from Matt/No Idea waiting for me on my porch-This is how I was introduced to the Witches 7" and became a fan of Salinas Records. I eventually put on a show for the band and found out they were both great people and live band. Now a Witches CD/LP later, here I am getting to work with Cara Beth Satalino (Witches) and Marco/Salinas together on Cara's 2008 recording. It has been remixed, remastered, and comes to you with new artwork in 12" 45 form pressed on recycled mixed color vinyl. These are songs recorded before Witches, some of which would become band songs. Very stripped down but each song offers different dimensions with subtle changes in instrumentation. Now that both Witches and Cara are active I look forward to seeing what comes next. Thanks Matt!" --Rich/Bakery Outlet

USED KIDSYeah No (SALE PRICE!) from Salinas
Available in our NEW STORE!

Unabashed rock'n'roll from Brooklyn with Midwestern DNA. Husky vocals (a la Husker Du), catchy songwriting, and thoughtful guitars. Reminiscent of early Jam, or in more recent history, the celebratory feel of the Exploding Hearts. If wailing guitar solos were a more widely recognized currency, times would not be so desperate. Folks from MODERN MACHINES / CHEEKY / THE ERGS!
V/A - WAR ON TERRORISM from Salinas

The Gibbons, Mumbler, Megan Kott and Caulfield offer one urgent protest song each. Three melodic yet angry punk songs, and one pretty but similarly angry folk tune.
WITCHESWitches from Salinas/Mandible Records
