FELLOW PROJECT / THOUSANDAIRES from Kiss of Death BUY 7" • $3.75 Somewhere between angular post-punk and straight up punk rock lays Fellow Project. Featuring members of Bridge and Tunnel, the band’s songs feature jangly riffs, staggered tempos, monumental buildups and good old upbeat sing-alongs with male and female dueling vocals. They sound novel and familiar all at the same time. Thousandaires approach the same idea with a slightly more upbeat and straightforward take. The vocals call to mind early Hot Water Music, but the song writing is less traditional and more punk at the same time. Noodling guitars scale the fretboards, but not in a crummy tech metal way. The songs sound like they are written with a nod to the mid-nineties era bands but this is still punk. |

FELLOW PROJECT / JONESIN' from Kiss of Death BUY 7" • $3.50 Fellow Project: Band Members of the band are into music, horseracing, snakes, knitting, the buried life, etc.. They also play in the following bands that you may want to know, Bridge and Tunnel, On the Might of Princes, Yes Sensei, God's Gift to women, and Church of the Rowdy. Musically, Fellow Project drops some bad-ass Fugazi influenced hits on your ass. - Glenn Jonesin': From the ashes of Down In The Dumps. Sounds like Dukes Of Hillsborough by way of Gunmoll: burlaped voice, like someone's throat is a bedroll of knives, dirt, and glass shards. Florida-ation facial grown rock by way of NYC that's working on, and beginning to succeed, in sounding epic. Not bad at all. – Todd Taylor |
