		DELAY "Plain Language" from Salinas/Plan-It-X BUY LP • $8.50 BUY CD • $5.75 DOWNLOAD from iTunes Delay's sixth full length blitzes by, leaving you dizzy with thinking-person's melodies. If you thought you knew this Ohio band, this record deserves a close listen. The band have learned to squeeze a ton out of the bare bones three-piece with beautifully crafted guitar lines, and harmonies bouncing back and forth. It's sometimes a loaded statement to say a pop-punk band has matured, but 2009 was a good vintage for Delay.
		DIRTY LOOKS / BOSSY from Salinas BUY 7" • $3.50 Both bands are ex-Bent Outta Shape. Bossy is female-fronted three-piece pop, with clean guitar and light-hearted lyrics. Dirty Looks are melodic punk, and anything but light-hearted.

		GIBBONS "Hope, Inc." from Salinas BUY LP • $8.00 BUY CD • $6.00 Often compared to early Lawrence Arms, the Gibbons seamlessly blend the personal and political over melancholy chords, delivered with a sincere urgency.
		HADITUPTOHERES, THE "Wild City, Honest Dancing" from Salinas BUY LP • $8.50 The Hadituptoheres are a three-piece punk band from Detroit, MI. Wild and honest are apt words for the title of their second full length. They sound like an urgent barrage of unguarded feeling, stripped as bare as the artwork on the record. The lyrics are almost Craig Finn-esque at times, a poetry as chaotic and unassumingly beautiful as their hometown, layered over a backbeat that sounds like a more bombastic Toys That Kill. Exploring punk's middle ground: not sugary, but far from macho. "Detroit is easy, baby!" Who's paying attention?
		HALO FAUNA "Durak" from Salinas/Dead Broke/Plan-It-X BUY LP • $9.00 BUY CD • $5.75 DOWNLOAD from iTunes The songs of singer / frequent songwriter Eric Ayotte (constantly on the road for one project or another) are given fresh dynamics in the full band setting. Along with Eric's minimally distorted guitar, the rhythm section of Dominic & Dave (If You Make It) combine to lend a stripped-down Weakerthans feel to these introspective songs. 		HOP ALONG "Wretches" from Salinas BUY 10" • $8.50 Hop Along (previously known as Hop Along Queen Ansleis) has taken a big step forward with the songs on this 10". Though Frances' unique singing is still one of the highlights, but now she's playing with a full band. There's an epic quality to the songs, not just because they're longer than 4 minutes, but because the arrangements are so thoughtful and engaging.
		HOT NEW MEXICANS "It's Called Leaning Back" from Salinas BUY LP • $8.50 BUY CD • $6.00 Finally on vinyl, six years later, The Hot New Mexicans debut full- length is a stripped down blend of punk, alt. country, and good old rock'n'roll. The Replacements and even really early Wilco come to mind. A little more mellow than their self-titled sophomore album.

There are more of the short 90's influenced indie/punk songs that characterized their first record, but with there's also a darker tone reminiscent at times of Archers of Loaf.

They play well written, well executed melodic punk songs that draw from Southern and indie rock as much as punk. This is the follow up to their full-length on Plan-it-X and split with Defiance, Ohio.

		P.S. ELIOT "Sadie" from Salinas Records BUY LP • $8.50 P.S. Eliot's second LP brings 13 more songs of pop-punk with a slightly stronger 90's indie-rock influence. Now split between Birmingham, Al and New York City this quartet still has the strong female-vocals and guitar hooks of their first LP, with stronger drumming and bass that retains the fuzz while adding to the songs.
		POTBOILER "Izzy Alcantara" from Salinas BUY 7" • $3.50 Brooklyn via New Paltz party-punk that is actually quite complex and kind of dark under a closer inspection. Equally perfect for a rowdy basement show, or a lonesome night of record therapy.

"Every now and then I'll find a surprise package of records from Matt/No Idea waiting for me on my porch-This is how I was introduced to the Witches 7" and became a fan of Salinas Records. I eventually put on a show for the band and found out they were both great people and live band. Now a Witches CD/LP later, here I am getting to work with Cara Beth Satalino (Witches) and Marco/Salinas together on Cara's 2008 recording. It has been remixed, remastered, and comes to you with new artwork in 12" 45 form pressed on recycled mixed color vinyl. These are songs recorded before Witches, some of which would become band songs. Very stripped down but each song offers different dimensions with subtle changes in instrumentation. 		WITCHES "Witches" from Salinas/Mandible Records BUY 7" • $3.75 The debut record from the Athens, GA based band. Three songs of haunting indie-punk with wonderfully loud guitars reminiscent of the louder moments of the Neil Young catalogue. The beautiful female vocals tie the tight rhythm section and the meandering guitar.
		WORMBURNER "Wormburner" from Salinas BUY 7" • $4.25 Wormburner is a four piece pop-punk band from Grand Rapids, MI who take a few cues from the gruffness of their other projects (North Lincoln, Traffic and Weather), but instead of power-chords their guitar work is firmly rooted in the melodic sides of bands like Potboiler, or maybe even Braid.
