| AMPERE | Like Shadows LP/CD from No Idea - **COLORED VINYL LP includes a download code! "Providing the ideal soundtrack to your next Nietzschian nervous breakdown, Like Shadows is another high-water mark for Ampere. Since picking up the flag for intelligent, literate screamo in 2002 when his former band, Orchid, called it quits, guitarist Will Killingsworth and the rest of Ampere have continued to push the boundaries of inventive, aggressive post-hardcore. Like Shadows is the highest-quality recording in their stacked catalog and the sonic crispness of songs such as "Terminally" make all 28 seconds leap out of the stereo. Like Shadows' attack is refined and unbelievably heavy, but has enough dynamics to drive home just how seriously raw and powerful its most explosive moments truly are." - Sam Sutherland / Alternative Press |

| AUDACITY | Power Drowning LP from Recess Records/Burger Records - I saw these guys on a boat and thought they were the best band I have seen while skimming on the Pacific Ocean! From the first few chords they reminded me of Jerry's Kids. Like very early Jerry's Kids, as well as a slew of other early '80's bands, but 1 minute into a song everything changed and I thought, "Now they sound like The Bananas!". Yea I put a quote on thoughts. So what?! The day they all graduated from high school they left for their first US tour. They even do "Dicks Hate Police". Split release with Burger Records! --Todd/Recess |

| AVERKIOU | The New Imperative 7" from Sound Study Recordings - Nearing the end of 2011, Averkiou entered Black Bear Studios with producer Ryan Williams. The band went to work recording the best music of their career. After weeks of toiling over a small mountain of overdrive pedals and every reverb you can imagine, four songs were chosen to be "The New Imperative" EP. When I listen to this record I feel like what I assume guitarist Jay Shuster feels like most of the time--like I'm barefoot, a little stoned, spinning around in circles with a guitar around my neck and a big dumb grin on my face. It's a good feeling. "The New Imperative" revisits some of the band's familiar sounds, a wash of warm guitar fuzz pouring just over Matt Brink's charismatic, reverb-drenched vocals and Brad Purvis' relentless beats. It'll bring that same smile to your face with its sharp sense of melody and style, while pummeling your bowels into submission with utter heaviness. There is something about this that feels "new" though. Somehow this EP feels more cohesive than their previous efforts, like a band that has hit their stride. In 2011 the band suffered some growing pains, losing two members and gaining a new one. It seems they have come out the other side stronger than ever. It's almost as if the band wanted to let everyone know that they are indeed at the top of their game. **Colored vinyl! "Averkiou--pronounced ave-er-queue--are five dudes from Gainesville, Florida, playing toe-tapping steamroller stoner jams...before you start saying that’s a stupid name you can’t spell or pronounce so fuck them, they named the band after Gene and Nicole Averkiou, a brother-sister duo who are very much tight as shit, and naming your band after tight siblings who you're friends with is gold genius." -VICE Magazine | BUY 7":$4.50 |
| BAD SPORTS | Kings Of The Weekend LP/CD from Dirtnap - Bad Sports were formed in 2007 in Denton, Texas by Orville Neeley, Daniel Fried and Gregory Rutherford, who came from a variety of different bands in the North Texas area. Their debut self titled full length was released in late 2009 on Douchemaster Records following a string of singles, and showed the band's songwriting mature into a more refined pop territory without losing their edge. The group's energetic live shows (inclduing a show-stopping performance at Dirtnap Records' 2011 SXSW Showcase) have won over audiences across the US, as well as helped gain them notoriety as one of the best live acts in the nation. Prolific to a fault, Bad Sports members currently also play in the High Tension Wires, OBN IIIs, the live incarnation of Mind Spiders, Wiccans, Video, and many more. Kings Of The Weekend, the band's debut for Dirtnap Records, picks up right where the last one left off, showing a penchant for highly developed pop songwriting skills mixed with the speedy garage punk/pop sound of their first LP. A great recording by Mark Ryan of The Mind Spiders/Marked Men fame really compliments the band's sound, making this one of our absolute faves of 2011, as well as the 4th LP in a row Dirtnap has released by Texas bands. We should really just move there........... |

| BATON ROUGE | Fragments Deux Memes LP/CD from Bakery Outlet - Baton Rouge is 4/5 of Daitro playing "a kind of indie - noise in the vein of Unwound /Television /Mission Of Burma / Sonic Youth mixed with some emo-rock ala Twelve Hour Turn / Tubers". 4 friends who grew up in the landscape of the Beaujolais vineyard close to Lyon France, between birds and grapes. They learned how to play together being inspired by Sonic Youth, Mudhonney, Nirvana or things like that. This is a new project in the vein of their first love, a kind of indie rock with power chords, arpeggios, clear voices, and tremelo. Same people, different way to play, different music with the feeling to discover everything, as the beginning of learning music even as they had been playing together for a long time. Everybody says that 30 years is a rebirth in people's life, for Baton Rouge, it's an extra time of their friendship, just good time spent together in playing old things, with a lot of common pleasant recollection. "Fragment deux meme" is an 8 piece record where all these influences are suggested closely or remotely connected, as if it was the natural following of their last ten years. |

| BRIDGE AND TUNNEL | Rebuilding Year LP/CD from No Idea - Gatefold LP, colored vinyl, includes download code! Sonically anchored by a guitar-driven melodicism reminiscent of later-era Small Brown Bike, Bridge and Tunnel harness the explosive, angular technique employed by luminaries like Fugazi and Cursive to convey a cutting sense of immediacy and intensity. Bookended by soaring atmospheric compositions, the roots of the album lie in a commanding mastery of complex rhythm and a precision born of both tireless effort and innate chemistry. Above it all, their voices weave together through a range of emotionally-laden tones as somber harmonies flip on a fill to a wrenching howl that echoes the desperation and defiance they’ve put to paper. Here's a really nice review, too: “Bridge and Tunnel pull risky maneuvers on their sophomore full-length. Opening with their longest song to date, ‘Synchronized Swimming’ (a nearly six-minute stunner that moves from haunting to beautiful in under 45 seconds), it’s an epic achievement that shows just how brilliant and passionate the New York act can be. From the aggressive prog-hardcore of ‘Outgrowing Pains’ to the emotive break in ‘Drill Instructor,’ the band continue to ply their trade via countless guitar pedals, mathy rhythms and intelligent metaphors detailing the panic involved in honest, urban living... this is the type of forward thinking that doesn’t turn up nearly often enough in punk.” - Brian Schultz, Alternative Press |

| BYRDS OF PARADISE | Teenage Symphonies LP from Don Giovanni - At once filthy, dreamy, druggily intoxicating and soberingly intense, Brooklyn-based Byrds of Paradise churn out slop pop tunes wearing garage/psych/punk clothing that are as sweetly sticky as they are layered, noisy and driven. The band, started by D.C. expatriate Kenny Brown in late 2009, is clearly informed by classic D.C. punk sonics, although not defined by them. That winter, Brown left D.C. to return to his New Jersey home and dedicate several weeks to recording a long- planned demo with his dear old friend and now singer Jared J Jones, ex-Dustheads). Brown then relocated to Brooklyn, where a full band came together with Alan Yuch (ex- Mongoloids) on drums and Brenden Britz (Subway Sadists, Whiteworks) playing bass. Byrds of Paradise released their debut “Rowena” 7” on Wild Words records, followed by their Don Giovanni Records debut, the “Omega Man” 7” and their most recent 7”, “Barefoot Paradise”, on UK label Sleep All Day Records. | BUY LP:$8.00 |

The cover art is brand new as well, featuring kick- ass cartoon inspired graphics from Dave Neeson, as well as an 11×17 double sided poster/insert and download coupon. Career Suicide are hands down our fave HC band of the 00’s, and we’re still a little freaked out that they’re letting us put out a record!" - Ken / Dirtnap | BUY 7":$4.25 |

| CITY OF SHIPS | Minor World LP from Sound Study Recordings - The force that is City of Ships bring us their sophomore LP. The monstrous guitars and thundering rhythm section are still there but this time the band brings even more texture, even bigger atmospheres. Don't worry though, they will still rip your head off when they need to. These ten tracks shine through Andrew Schnieder's skillful production. The Jernigan brothers (plus Rob) prove once again that they are a force to be reckoned with. Digital download included! **1st pressing is 500 copies on 210 gram black vinyl | BUY LP:$11.00 |
| CLASSICS OF LOVE | Classics Of Love LP/CD from Asian Man - **OUT FEB. 14th! Classics of Love began in February of 2008 when Jesse Michaels, former lead singer of East Bay mainstays Operation Ivy, joined forces with San Jose's Hard Girls. Initially formed as a project to demo a few songs Michaels was working on, the members discovered that they had good musical compatibility and decided to form an ongoing band. After some early touring Classics offered up their first EP, 2009's Walking in Shadows which served up 6 songs of mid-tempo punk in the traditional East Bay vein: catchy, energetic and gritty. The following 2 years saw the band playing selective shows and slowly developing their sound. During this period, Classics incorporated other musical influences including a few ska and rock songs and most notably a barrage of up-tempo numbers heavily influenced by early 1980's Hardcore. 2011 saw the recording of their self titled full-length to be released on Asian Man Records in February of 2012. The record features a slew of high energy tracks which favors the band's neo-hardcore approach but also includes ska and punk songs as well as a few surprises. Recorded in a raw and unaffected style by local favorite Jack Shirley, Classics of Love's eponymous first record is bound to become a classic in its own right for all those who enjoy punk music which knows its history and looks forward at the same time. On assorted colored vinyl! |

| COPYRIGHTS | North Sentinel Island LP from It's Alive - **On YELLOW vinyl, a No Idea exclusive color!** It's hard to believe it has been eight years since The Copyrights released their first album way back in 2003. Pop punk had long since burst onto the scene, into the big leagues and retreated back to the basements by then, leaving behind the last of the diehards. Among those diehards were The Copyrights. Still teenagers then, these guys took everything good about the old style and made it new again... and better than ever. They were among the first of a few young bands to really take pop punk, turn it on its end and redefine the genre. Eight years, a slew of singles and five full length albums later they are still at it. They continue to define and redefine the genre with each successive album. No two Copyrigths albums sound exactly the same, but they are all unmistakably Copyrights through and through. Bands like this make sticking to the music you love despite all of its lows worth it every day. North Sentinel Island is the best Copyrights album to date. But ask any Copyrights fan and they will have said the same about each new album when it came out. They aren't wrong - this band just gets better and better with each new record. | BUY LP:$10.00 |

| CREDENTIALS | Goocher LP from It's Alive Records - In a time when it's not only accepted but seemingly encouraged and even applauded for underground independent bands to get their music licensed for video games, car commercials, energy drink sponsorships and shit knows what else, it's nice to know some bands still stand against all that big deal bullshit. The Credentials are one of those bands. Ideals aren't dead and neither is punk. "Goocher" is the band's second album and it's stacked full of anthems shouted out against the bullshit we all see and deal with in day to day life. They don't get all preachy or pretentious with it either. They sing from the heart and go for the guts on every track. Musically The Credentials fall somewhere between the east bay sound of the '90s not unlike Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder and more modern bands like Chinese Telephones and Witches With Dicks. Mix all that up with a little '77 street punk style and crunchy pop punk jams and that's how "Goocher" is gonna rock you! | BUY LP:$9.00 |

| D. VASSALOTTI | Book of Ghosts LP from Vinyl Rites - David has been cutting his teeth for 10 years in various bands around the Tampa area. Most recently he's been half of MERCHANDISE and a quarter of NEON BLUD, before that he was one of the primary song writers in CULT RITUAL, and all this time he has had 5+ other projects on deck. Very rarely do we drop the ex-members card at VINYL RITES, but having that kind of musical pedigree is pretty unbeatable. His first solo LP is wildly different from the aforementioned groups, although it shares some of the bedroom sensibilities that MERCHANDISE espouses so well. Luckily for all of us, great song writing transcends genre and with BOOK OF GHOSTS he explores more of the Creation Records and 4AD back catalog. His musical hombre ZZ compares it to FELT and TRANS era NEIL YOUNG. It seamlessly goes from intensely personal singer-songwriter numbers to huge and lush shoe-gazing darkness, from NEW ORDER pop to THIS MORTAL COIL downers. Not only our favorite release on VINYL RITES yet, but it's also the most hauntingly beautiful recordings we've heard in years. | BUY LP:$9.00 |
| DAN ANDRIANO IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM | Hurricane Season LP/CD from Asian Man Records - Dan Andriano brings us his debut solo album under the moniker Dan Andriano In The Emergency Room. 10 tracks comprise this LP of beautifully layered songs that one would expect from the Dan side of ALKALINE TRIO releases. **On BLACK, TURQUOISE, or CLEAR vinyl! |

| GOOD LUCK | Into Lake Griffy LP/CD from No Idea/Good Luck - "Flat-out inspiring, wonderful people who immediately light up a room. Intricate and direct, raucous and thoughtful, noodley and restrained. This record puts me in a good mood. Some days it's all I need to get through. Do you like Paul Baribeau, The Weakerthans, and Bridge And Tunnel? I think that would be a great show. Let's set it up!" - Var. GOOD LUCK are friends who knew each other from playing in past musical projects like MATTY POP CHART, ONE REASON, ABE FROMAN, and MT. GIGANTIC. They used to live in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Michigan before something drew them all to Bloomington. |

| GOOD LUCK | Without Hesitation LP/CD from No Idea - Good Luck is, without hesitation, the most positive group of people in one band possible. This exuberant wellspring is tapped on each and every song, even the heartfelt and downtrodden ones. In any other hands, the noodling would be too noodley. The sugar would be too delicious. Somehow the intricacy and curious time signatures melt away, taking a back seat to the overtly catchy and triumphant choruses. Charmingly humble and possessing a wickedly sharp wit, these songs are as fine as they come. This band deserves to be massive, thought they would probably be just as happy opening for Ted Leo on a world tour. |

| HAWKS AND DOVES | Year One LP/CD from No Idea - Gared had a very crappy year. Essentially, his band broke up, and life dumped him. Bummer! Apparently, all that misery combined with anxiety attacks and excessive drinking make you want to escape your nightmarish existence, so Gared came to Gainesville to "record his solo album". While he was here, he was befriended/rescued by none other than guitar/bass maestro Chad "Malibu" Darby. Along the way, George "Rebel with an O" Rebelo inadvertently got roped into helping write keyboard parts (awesome chimes, man!) and a wee bit of drumming while he was at it. Other supporting players include the illustrious Jon Gaunt, Matt Radick, and Chris Wollard. The resulting album is as bleak as it is depressing. It also features the most blatant Motown/Afghan Whigs bites of Gared's fabulous musical career. To say that there are pop nuggets lurking within this seething document of a life collapsing on itself is an understatement. This is Mr. O'Donnell at his most honest and transparent. Despite it all, "Year One" is a cathartic and genuinely uplifting experience. For real! P.S. - Along the way, Gared fell in love with a beautiful woman and they are getting married soon. (We expect his next record to be a bit of a departure.) Includes download code! |

| HEX DISPENSERS | Razorcake Sister Series 7" from Razorcake Records - The Hex Dispensers may be obsessed with the dark shadows of the underworld, but they're far from trapped by these interests. Their lyrics speak truths on the most relatable levels, and, at times, are not restricted by reality. While their music sears out of your speakers like an egg cracked onto a Texan sidewalk in the middle of summer, the sizzling and eventual burning is transformed into hauntingly beautiful male and female harmonies. This record features 2 originals and a Young Offenders cover. Includes download code! | BUY 7":$4.00 |
| HIGH DIVE | High Dive LP/CD from No Idea - **On your choice of PINK or BLACK vinyl! HIGH DIVE is the new three-piece Queer punk band from Ryan Woods of Defiance, Ohio. "I first saw Toby play solo songs August of 2009. I was touring a lot at the time with Defiance, Ohio and we were seeing a lot of solo guitar players, but there was sincerity to his music that we were all really attracted to. It wasn’t long before we were spending most of our time together and he became a regular guest on Defiance, Ohio tours. Toby moved to Bloomington from Chicago. For years, Theo Hilton (Defiance, Ohio + Nana Grizol) and I had found it difficult to talk about the issues of being queer in our songs. It was something that was really important to us. Toby seemed to have a real strength for expressing his feelings on those topics and along with our friend, Clyde Petersen (Your Heart Breaks) we all found a greater voice for speaking about our experiences being queer. That relationship lead to some small tours and a 4-way split release LP on Talking Helps Records from Seattle. It included new and previously released solo songs by Toby, Clyde and Theo along with Defiance, Ohio and Nana Grizol songs we felt to be relevant. It also included two songs from a band Toby and I had started not long before called High Dive. We were really excited by the energy of some of our good friends three piece pop-punk bands like Songs for Moms, The Max Levine Ensemble, Delay and Vacation. We had known Nick Romy for years and as soon as we played the few songs we had already written, it seemed to click into place. Nick is the kind of person who can play almost any instrument, is always in about a half-dozen bands at any given time and was one of our best friends. Around the time we started the band, Toby and I also opened a restaurant (which Nick works at: www.theowleryrestaurant.com) so we all found ourselves quite busy. Our history so far has been that of mostly a lot of time in Nick’s basement working on these songs, lots of local shows and a very short tour with Songs for Moms. We are very excited to release this LP and take some time away from our day to day to travel and get to play these songs for old friends and new folks we will meet along the way." -- Ryan Woods |

| HOLY MOUNTAIN, THE | Here is No Exit (Picture Disc) LP from No Idea - THE HOLY MOUNTAIN throw down an infinite slab of brutality in the form of a PICTURE DISC LP. Epic pummeling! Eleven ragers: four songs recorded in 2010 plus seven more songs ripped forth from their formerly conjoined split companions, sutured, cauterized, and shaken not stirred. Behold! (Includes Download Code and fancy inserts, not to mention the unsettling art of Dan Rossiter throughout and a guest appearance by artist Vincent Locke.) THM continues their legacy, twisting and warping the bedrock of the noise they love to burn! Brace yourself for heavy doses of d-beat, bitter demented vocals, and over the top guitar leads! | IRON LUNG | Sexless/No Sex LP/CD from Prank - Finally back in print, on ORANGE or CLEAR vinyl! Destructive power violence hardcore! The debut Prank LP from Seattle-via-San Francisco-via-Reno's IRON LUNG features their abrasive blend of low end crushing heavy lumbering, split with devastating and inventive fast thrash and bleak lyrics skewed through medical malpractice. A 20-song second LP following up their "Life. Iron Lung.Death" LP on 625 Thrash on top of a ridiculous number of 7"'s, split releases, cassettes, CD-R's and other limited releases. The duo that is IRON LUNG sit at the forefront of the modern power violence resurgence, continually re-inventing the formula and pushing it to new extremes. IRON LUNG members were previously in ARTIMUS PYLE, GEHENNA, GOB and VAE VICTUS and have toured extensively throughout the US and Europe, been on TV in Iceland and also toured Australia, where they will return in 2008. "SEXLESS//NO SEX" was recorded at Polymorph Studios by Dan Rathbun (whose engineering and production includes some of the best of extreme underground hardcore - TRAGEDY, HIS HERO IS GONE, WORLD BURNS TO DEATH, FROM ASHES RISE). The cover artwork is mind blowing pen-and-ink scratching by NICK BLINKO of RUDIMENTARY PENI! |

| JAPANTHER | Beets, Limes and Rice LP/CD from Recess Records - Described most recently as “art-rock installation paratroopers” and “a studied form of New Wave anarchism” by Flash Art, a “Performance Galaxy” by Vanity Fair, “Super hard, incredibly fast and overall inspiring” by Thrasher, “more accessible than other bands of its genre” by the New Yorker, and “the best band ever, straight up” by Tokion, Japanther (www.japanther.com) has always been a band apart, running the gamut from performance art to punk rock and back again. Pushing parties to the limit ("Lincoln Center punk-rock concert turned mini-riot” -New York Post), Japanther returns in 2011 with Beets, Limes and Rice, a celebration of ten years in the underground and an ultra-contemporary meditation on catharsis and being in love in a time of darkness. Following on the heels of Rock ‘n’ Roll Ice Cream (2010), Beets, Limes and Rice was again recorded in the hills of Los Angeles with producer Michael Blum, who has worked with Michael Jackson, Madonna (Like a Prayer, Who’s That Girl), Pink Floyd and Suicidal Tendencies. From Venice Beach to Rockaway Beach, this new album delivers a new urban punk rock dance sound that bursts with California sunshine and amped-up collaborations with Ninjasonik, Erick Lyle, Total Warr and John McIntyr. Beets, Limes and Rice was written in the midst of "It Never Seems to End," an 84-hour performance piece in Vienna, Austria for TBA 21; in Paris, Venice, during cross-country travel from Juarez to Brooklyn to Bellingham, and lots of airports in between. Beets, Limes and Rice will be released on October 18th in digital and vinyl format from Recess Records, on CD from Japanther's own Tapes Records, on cassette from Lauren Records, and by Seayou Records in Europe. The artwork for the album was created by Monica Canilao, whose art focuses on craft, reclaimed materials, and “the meaning of home, the power of collectivity and the imprint history has left on me.” Japanther is an art project, established by Matt Reilly and Ian Vanek, then students at Pratt Institute. Japanther was featured in the 2006 Whitney Biennial and the 2011 Venice Biennale, and has collaborated with a diverse pool of artists such as Gelitin, Penny Rimbaud, Gee Vaucher, Dan Graham, Eileen Myles, Kevin Bouton-Scott, robbinschilds, Dawn Riddle, Claudia Meza, Todd James, Devin Flynn, Ninjasonik, Anita Sparrow and Spankrock. Japanther has made its name with unique performance situations, appearing alongside synchronized swimmers, atop the Williamsburg Bridge, with giant puppets, marionettes and shadow puppets, in the back of a moving truck in Soho, and at shows with giant dinosaurs and BMXers flying off the walls. |

| LITTLE CUTS | Plastic Disaster 7" from Dirtnap - Dave Hernandez of legendary garage punk band Scared of Chaka, formed Little Cuts in Seattle during a break from touring duties with indie rockers The Shins in '08. His years with The Shins (a band of whom he'd been friends with the leader of, James Mercer, since Scared of Chaka was touring the world in the mid 90s) left him anxious for a return to the louder and more chaotic leanings of his earlier bands. Andrew Church (Ballard master rock musician, genius go-to guy, fixer, bartender extraordinaire, all around gentleman, and Godfather to Hernandez's firstborn) was the obvious choice for wingman in the group. Having previously played and recorded with Hernandez in power rock outfit Broadcast Oblivion (featuring murder city devils/big business/melvins drummer Coady Willis) he filled bass duties handily when not working with his other great band The Cops. Curtis James of Old Haunts had met Hernandez mid tour in the early 90s when he'd drummed for Olympia band Excuse 17, and it was total random coincidence that had him tattooing at a shop next door to Hazelwood, Church's bar in Seattle. He completed the three piece, and they set about recording a handful of CDRs that were passed around town, and played a handful of shows as well as releasing a single for Bag of Hammers. Inevitably, the pull of other bands, family, and a bad case o' the "grumps" prevented this lineup from touring extensively. This release holds their last recorded work before Curtis James returned to Olympia and left the band. Lars Finberg of The Intelligence recorded this in the fall of 2010 and a year later its finally seeing release thanks to Ken at Dirtnap Records. The current lineup includes David Weeks from The Cops on drums. |

| LUCA BRASI | Extended Family LP from Poison City - Despite only being together since early 2010, Australian wild-men, Luca Brasi have already garnished a reputation for injecting fun, recklessness and youthful enthusiasm back into an often sterile and unimaginative punk-rock scene. Produced by Nic White and Linc Le Fevre (The Scandal) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side NY, 'Extended Family' is a refreshing take on the melodic-punk sound pioneered by the likes of Lifetime, Jawbreaker and alike. * 160gm Black Vinyl * LP comes with Mp3 download coupon. | BUY LP:$10.50 |

| MANIX, THE | Neighborhood Wildlife LP/CD from It's Alive - **OUT IN LATE DEC./EARLY JAN.! Enough is enough. Minneapolis punk bands seriously need to take a year or two off and let the rest of the country catch up with their awesomeness. It really is getting ridiculous how many incredible bands call that city home. Being the land of a thousands lakes, I gotta believe it is something in the goddamn water. Sure, many of the bands coming out of MPLS have similar sounding styles, but why is that a bad thing if their styles of choice kick my ass every time? The Manix are the latest musical champions from this magical land to have graced It's Alive Records with the privilege to release a record of theirs. Their debut album Neighborhood Wildlife is packed with a dozen jams that absolutely kill it with every listen! The songs showcase a great mix of the shoutalong go-for-broke anthems super-prevalent in the basement scene of today's midwest and the ultra catchy head-bopping melodies that are the core of all pop punk past and present. The lyrics are smart, thoughtful and heartfelt without any hints of trying too hard to be anything they aren't. The album was mixed at mastered by Jacques Wait - the man behind the boards for many an album from other MPLS locals such as Off With Their Heads, The Soviettes, Dear Landlord, Banner Pilot and The Gateway District - so you know this shit sounds tight! Frontdude Corey Ayd spends his time away from The Manix as a member of the professional punk rock group Banner Pilot, so there's a whole wealth of incredible music to feed off of right there. Drummer Mike Cranberry also plays in Nato Cole's latest rock group The Blue Diamond Band and is the sweetest dude on planet earth. Second vocalist and guitarist Steve used to be in The Turkletons, so that's pretty much gonna sell a thousand copies of this album right there. Tyler was something like 12 years old when he played on this album, but left the band to pursue a high school education or something like that. Joe, formerly of Amen And The Hell Yeahs has replaced him and totally upped The Manix drunx punx points. How these kids in their early 20's come off sounding like the new reigning champs of punk rock I have no idea, but they do... It's gotta be the fucking water! **MEMBERS OF BANNER PILOT & THE BLUE DIAMOND BAND |

| MARKED MEN | Ghosts LP/CD from Dirtnap - "Blurring the rawness and velocity of their self-titled debut with the slightly more developed songwriting "chops" of the last two, the Marked Men have truly delivered the best of both worlds. Since their debut album came out on Rip Off in 2002 (reissued in 2008 on Dirtnap!), the Marked Men have established themselves as one of the best, most distinctive, compelling, and instantly recognizable punk bands of the 2000's. They're also quickly becoming one of the more influential. Despite that, you can pop the needle on "Ghosts" for 5 seconds and instantly be left without a doubt as to whom you are listening. It ain't pop-punk. It ain't power-pop. It ain't KBD or '77 style punk. At this point, the Marked Men sound like absolutely no one but themselves. The bad news is that this will be their last album for a couple of years, as co-lead vocalist/guitarist/total musical genius Jeff Burke is currently living in Japan. The good news is that the band swears they are NOT broken up, just on extended hiatus. We couldn't possibly be more honored that the Marked Men saw fit to return to our humble label, and are looking forward to doing more stuff with them (and hopefully their new, as yet unformed bands) in the coming years!" - Ken / Dirtnap |

| MIND SPIDERS | The Mind Spiders LP from Dirtnap - Solo pop explorations from Mark Ryan of the Marked Men! (yes, we used the same tag-line for the 7", but it was too appropriate not to recycle!) Around the time Denton, TX legends Marked Men were entering into their current state of semi- hibernation, co- singer/songwriter/ guitarist Mark Ryan decided he wanted to go in a slightly different direction for his next project, with recordings handled mostly by himself, and a fluid lineup of musicians to back him live. After an extremely well received 7" on Dirtnap (released before the live version of the band had played a single show), Mind Spiders follow it up with a full length that doesn't begin to disappoint. Intelligent, highly crafted songwriting with lots of twists and turns, meticulously recorded at home with Mark himself playing most of the instruments. Pop with brains and substance, catchy stuff that isn't afraid to spread out a bit and reflect a wide range of influences and interests. A little 60's pop here, a little lo-fi there, a little weirdo-in-his- bedroom-with-a-4-track in other places. And if the opening song, Go!, sounds a bit like the Marked Men, that's because that band recorded a version of it for their last LP, which was left off at the last minute. The live version of Mind Spiders is a different beast entirely. It's a regular Denton/Ft. Worth all star band, with members of Bad Sports, High Tension Wires, Uptown Bums, Marked Men and a lot more, made unique in the fact that there are TWO drummers (Greg Rutherford of Bad Sports/High Tension Wires and Mike Throneberry of the Marked Men), lending a rather explosive element to the proceedings. January 2011's release of The Mind Spiders debut LP marks the beginning of yet another year of fruitful collaboration between Dirtnap Records and the seemingly never ending stream of bands from the great state (republic?) of Texas. February will see the release of the 3rd LP from longtime Marked Men/Reds/Riverboat Gamblers side project The High Tension Wires. March will see the Dirtnap debut from Denton/Austin's The Bad Sports, 2/3rds of whom also play in both The High Tension Wires and the live version of The Mind Spiders. Houston's Something Fierce just wrapped up recording a monster of a 3rd LP, which we'll be releasing in April. All these bands and more will be playing Dirtnap Records' SXSW Showcase in March, come check it out! | BUY LP:$9.00 |

| NAZI DUST | Wretched Hour LP from Vinyl Rites - Certain cities make for incubators of specific kinds of music and Tampa, like Detroit, makes for ugly music. NAZI DUST is a hardcore punk band pulling from the nastier moments of 80's Boston hardcore, mostly SIEGE and SSD. Their recording is raw, their drums are pounding, their guitar and bass are buzzsaws of treble and distortion and the vocals are spit with an unreal amount of venom. Violent music from young men in a violent city. | BUY LP:$9.00 |

| NIGHT BIRDS | Night Birds 7" from Dirtnap/Grave Mistake - Back in stock! Dirtnap is psyched to announce the release the 2nd 7" (following hot on the heels of their debut on Art Of The Underground) from New Jersey’s own Night Birds. Night Birds’ lineup will look familiar to fans of Dirtnap and awesome music in general, being composed of members of The Ergs, Psyched To Die, Hunchback, and many more. Musically, though, it’s probably not what you think, (it’s better) given the ex members list. Think speedy, catchy stuff that blurs the lines of punk and very early So Cal hardcore, with lots of surf/spy guitar thrown on top! Adolescents meets Dead Kennedys? 5 songs that go by quick, including what I think is the first instrumental on a Dirtnap release, although at this point it’s starting to get real hard to keep track of that shit. At the band’s request, there is no color vinyl on this release, but the first 500 will come in stamped sleeves. All copies come with sticker and download coupon. | BUY 7":$3.75 |
| NINJA GUN | Roman Nose EP 12" from Sabot Productions - Comes on your choice of Black or White vinyl! Here's a nice review from Alternative Press: "Ninja Gun are something of an outlier in the current punk scene. Though they often tour with punk bands and perform at punk festivals, the Valdosta, Georgia-based quartet have quietly evolved their sound into something much more than a few simple chords and expository lyrics. The band take almost equal influence from ’70s power-pop and classic country, and the end result is often extremely engaging and interesting, such as on the group’s new four-song EP, Roman Nose. The lush production dramatically augments the impact of the instruments; whether it’s layered acoustic guitars and smooth backing vocals (“That’s Not What I Heard”), massive drum fills (“Hot Rain”) or huge, crunchy choruses (“Lepers In Love”), Ninja Gun have never sounded better. The constant is the talented, drawled croon of frontman Johnathan Coody, whose voice carries the title track with a simultaneous sense of vulnerability and aplomb that perfectly suits the song’s weathered aesthetic. If Roman Nose is a precursor for what’s to come on the next Ninja Gun full-length, we’re all in for a treat." | BUY 12":$6.75 |

| OFF WITH THEIR HEADS | From the Bottom LP/CD from No Idea - **Back in stock on LP! In a world where everything is falling apart, it's nice to know someone is worse off than yourself. Ha ha, okay, so I kid. But this guy Ryan must be driving himself crazy, what with all the dire hopelessness and impossibility wrapped up in his lyrics. One can only hope that this is his way of dealing with all the crap humanity sends his way. Or is he a magnet for misfortune? Combine this direct, desperate outlook with upbeat, forward- moving punk rock, and what do you have? A strangely uplifting, energetic rallying cry that - far from bogging down the listener- inspires one to get up off their ass and do something. When I need a pick me up, this is it. When I need to knuckle down & get 'er done, this is it. For you, maybe you need to kick a bad habit: this may not be for you. Or maybe... it's just what you need. (Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure Ryan is actually crazy. At least, that's what he told me.) --Var. **LP includes a Download Code** |

Dire shit. Makes Born Against almost sound like a hummable jingle for a retirement village advertising an attached golf course. | RESTORATIONS | Restorations CD from Poison City - Debut album from Philadelphia's RESTORATIONS. While often described simply as music for "grown-up punks" the appeal of Philadelphia's RESTORATIONS is much broader, speaking loudly to fans of everything from shoegaze and indie-rock, folk/ punk and beard-core. If we were to speak in metaphors, Restorations is like a menacing storm on the horizon, steadily rumbling across dusty plains and jagged mountains and enveloping everything in its path. Its impending arrival is a nail-biting experience and the anticipation is nearly as dramatic as the actual event, which in itself is a moving, white-knuckled affair. Pouring down dense sheets of cathartic sound, Restorations washes away the throngs of stale, unimaginative bands that pollute the once-inspired reservoirs of independent music and breathes new air into tired lungs. Perhaps that’s why this Self-Titled effort speaks so loudly to us “over-the-hill” punk rockers. It’s not that Restorations is a band comprised of jaded old punks; it’s that some of us have been around long enough to hear (what feels like) everything music has to offer. Every once in a while we need a group to cleanse our palates and get us stoked on the scene again. For these ears – and I’m sure many of yours – Restorations is that band, and the term “grown-up punk” is not about leaving behind the fire of our youth but rather the exciting possibilities and new frontiers that years of experience can underline. |

As if these influences weren’t unimpeachable enough, the cover of the seven-inch is scratch and sniff! Talk about form meets function! I eventually put on a show for the band and found out they were both great people and live band. It has been remixed, remastered, and comes to you with new artwork in 12" 45 form pressed on recycled mixed color vinyl. These are songs recorded before Witches, some of which would become band songs. Very stripped down but each song offers different dimensions with subtle changes in instrumentation. Shannon can belt out fierce and fun like Wanda Jackson and Etta James going head to head in a competition for the last bottle of hooch in a song like "King of the Sea" and then play that heart-broken-bad-girl-tryin'-to-do-good bit that hasn't been done this well since the Tammys or the Shangri-La's in a song like "Tired of Being Bad". Cody, the bands guitarist and other main song writer/singer comes on like a crooning, hiccuping, lo-fi garage version of the aformentioned Christie. Excercising the economy and aggression of Garage Rock in ways Lou would never have imagined but with a tenderness and vocal register you know he'd appreciate. Ian, the band's drummer, in addition to his skill at his own instrument provides additional back ups that would make Ennio Morricone and a tribe of head hunters equally as proud. Together The Clams provide a secret ingredient that binds together doo-wop, early rock and R&B, girl group classics, 60's garage/psych, surf and glints of punk in a way that's hard to get across in words. You have to listen to it. You have to see it when it comes to your town. You have to be there and feel that moment when you're compelled to turn to the stranger next to you and slow dance together to a song like "Done With You" and then immediately shake every part you got that shakes to "The Cult Song". Call it what you want; Young Oldies, Garage Rock, Surf, Doo Wop, Punk, whatever, just call it on Friday night. |

| SHORES | Coup de Grace LP/CD from No Idea - The roots of Michigan's SHORES tap the wellspring of RED HOUSE PAINTERS, BEDHEAD, THE NEW YEAR, CODEINE, LOW, SPAIN, SEAM, and SLOWDIVE. The first haunting note of "Coup de Grace" rings out, clear and clean, followed in time by another drenched in natural reverb, the living sound of a dark, wooden room. Not a cathedral, not a church, but a place of warmth and comfort nonetheless. The patient crescendo builds, the percussion kicks in, rocketing the dynamics into full play. Clean guitars, loud drums, clear vocals. Purposeful over casual, downbeat yet forward moving. Dark, not depressing. A rainy day, a late night adventure. -Var. |

| SHORES | "Little One" b/w "Something In the Way" 7" from No Idea - Shores is one of three bands to ever play a show in our backyard. Unbeknownst to anyone involved, the members of Twelve Hour Turn walked up at the same point that Shores kicked into a cover of their song, "Little One". Curiously, Brian (NEVER a member of North Lincoln) was borrowing Rich's guitar amp. Weird. Unfortunately Kurt Cobain did not also appear, although it was Halloween at the time. Had he done so, Shores could've ripped into their even weirder and more depressing version of "Something in the Way". These two songs are outtakes from the "To Volstead" session. Fabulous! | SMASH DETOX | Smash Detox 7" from Prank - A remarkable cross-border collaboration, SMASH DETOX is ISHIYA (FORWARD), SOUICHI (FORWARD), MUKAI (JUDGEMENT), ZAC (WORLD BURNS TO DEATH), IIZAWA (TETSU AREI) and ANDREA. Two powerful songs - "Shanguri-La" and " Like Water" that take elements of the intense hardcore sounds of each of their classic Japanese and American hardcore bands, but combined to a new and unique whole. Created with intense focus and effort, this recalls many of the classic definitive HG FACT two track EP's that defined the Tokyo punk sound of the late 90's and early 00's, but also has the unmistakable mark of Texas Powerhouse hardcore. Initially recorded and mixed at Toyko's OUR HOUSE studio, with guest vocals by JACK CONTROL (WORLD BURNS TO DEATH). Split release with HG FACT. | BUY 7":$5.00 |
| SOCCER TEAM | 3 songs 7" from Lovitt Records | BUY 7":$4.75 |
| SOPORS | Sopors 7" from Margin Mouth - This band is not easily classifiable. Too weird to be garage rock, not hostile enough for punk. But luckily Sopors aren’t concerned with genres, just making twisted tunes that're meant for the shadows of your musical mindset. I don’t hear direct influences, but rather certain regions that I'd believe they came from. A little Australia here, a little Texas there, all elements cremated and the ashes released from the Golden Gate Bridge. Ex-members of some of this decade's premier Bay Area bands; Abi Yoyos, Parasites Go!, and Shakey Bones. | BUY 7":$4.25 |
| SOVIETTES | II LP from Kiss Of Death - Originally released in 2004 on Adeline Records, The Soviettes have remastered their classic LP II and Kiss of Death is proud to be re-releasing the vinyl for it. LP II is a blast of energetic, classic sounding (mostly) female fronted pop punk. There is a super authentic 80's vibe to this record with both the production and song writing calling to mind aspects of Blondie and the Go Go's. However, the band isn't always tearing at break neck speeds, they slow it down on a couple of more melancholy and rocking tracks like "Tonight" and "Whatever You Want." Absolutely Crucial Record! |

| STEVE ADAMYK BAND | Forever Won't Wait LP/CD from Dirtnap - The Steve Adamyk Band are a bunch of obnoxious, rowdy, "kids" from Ottawa, Ontario. While the name would automatically draw comparison to a blues, jazz or rock band given the layout, make no mistake; the Steve Adamyk Band are a punk band. The SAB play trash-pop inspired by seventies punk, the skinny tie bands of the eighties and nineties garage rock. From the ashes of Million Dollar Marxists (Gearhead Records) and Sedatives (Deranged Records), the group was born out of necessity - a whack load of orphan songs with no band to call home. Frustrated playing in bands the would eventually call it quits, Adamyk formed a band that could have an endless timeline, even if the name is outside of the standard band name zone. |

I know they dig the Blue Album but they seem influenced by their own environment more than anything else. I salute it! | THE FUTURE NOW | Hangman/The Runaway 7" from Sound Study Recordings - Gainesville's The Future Now return with a triumphant follow-up to last year's "Hazy Orange Sunday" with two songs that delve further into 90's alt-rock worship while adding a jarring heaviness to their sound. On the A side, "Hangman" navigates the shadows between "Bleach" and "Nevermind" with a thick, aggressive lead, while the B side offers a mellower and melodic number reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr or The Lemonheads. | BUY 7":$4.00 |

| TIMESHARES | Bearable LP from Kiss Of Death/Kind Of Like Records - To portray Timeshares as anything more than four friends from downstate New York playing passionate, sincere punk-rock would be a waste of words. “We became friends through music,” says Mike Natoli, the band's bassist, “...Two years ago we started Timeshares together and it feels awesome.” So when these friends found themselves facing a couple of particularly "shitty years" as guitarist Jon Hernandez put it, they banded together to write and record their first full length Bearable. The band, which includes drummer Eric Bedell, guitarist and Jay Mosher, partnered with Kiss of Death Records and Kind of Like Records for a co-release on both vinyl and digital formats. With a blend of rock and punk reminiscent of that sweet spot from the 1990's, Bearable is sure to be loved by fans of early Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music and Avail alike. | BUY LP:$9.00 |

| V/A - ARE YOU WITH THE BAND? | (A Female-Fronted Pop-Punk Compilation) LP from Paper + Plastick - The impact of women such as Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Donita Sparks, and Kathleen Hanna on modern music is undeniable and can be felt decades after they first broke onto the scene. The ability of these women to challenge societal norms and not only cross, but smash gender boundaries in music rewrote the rock ‘n roll history books, and have inspired generations of women to pick up a microphone or instrument and do what they love to do. So why, nearly thirty years later, are women still queried “Are you with the band?” Curated by Lauren Denitzio, former vocalist/guitarist of New Brunswick pop-punk band The Measure [sa], Paper + Plastick Records is proud to release the all female-fronted pop-punk compilation Are You With The Band? on October 4th. All proceeds from the sale of the compilation will be donated to Planned Parenthood. A dozen of the seventeen tracks on Are You With The Band? are previously unreleased, and feature a diverse line up, from pop-punk (The Measure [sa], Slingshot Dakota, No More) to indie rock (P.S. Eliot, Noun) to straight up punk rock (Dead Dog, Shellshag). Though the bands may cross multiple genres, Denitzio surmises “We are women who play music, put out records, put on shows, make flyers and zines, create cover art, and support our scenes. We are far from alone anymore and this LP is meant to celebrate that.” |

| WEEKEND DADS | Weekend Dads 7" from It's Alive - Weekend Dads get their jam on in the land that lies somewhere between the classic four-chord down-stroking pop punk of yesteryear and the shout-it-out-loud super-charged anthems of today's modern pop punkers. They've taken two subgenres that have been done to death and put them together in a style that bridges the gap between the sugary sweet and hopelessly bleak. Their debut release is by no means a reinvention of the wheel, but more like a ride through a neighborhood you've been to a thousand times before, only this time you're taking the side streets and alleyways you always overlooked. The best shit is always in places you least expect to find it... places like Moncton, New Brunswick! Includes download code! | BUY 7":$4.00 |
| WHITE WIRES | WWII LP/CD from Dirtnap - "Ottawa, Ontario is exploding with good bands, easily one of our favorite musical hotbeds in North America at the moment, and we here at Dirtnap knew we had to get in on the action, before the action got in on us. (whatever the hell THAT means) What better way to start than with THE WHITE WIRES WWII, a sun- soaked Garage-Pop gem that will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Simple, spare, haunting, instantly memorable pop songs that’ll leave you glad to be alive. When White Wires released their debut LP on singer/guitarist Ian Manhire’s Going Gaga (VERY quickly becoming one of our favorite record labels on the planet) Records in 2009, EVERYONE we played it for here in Portland completely flipped out, and we were quickly pestering the band to let us reissue it. Alas, Douchemaster Records beat us to the punch on THAT one, but here we’ve been given a 2nd crack at ‘em. Ian from White Wires refers to WWII as the band’s “Dirtnap” album, in that it’s a little more (for lack of a better term) “punk” and a little less (for lack of a better term) “garage” than their debut. The tones are a little brighter, the tempos a little faster, the songs a little (if this is possible) catchier than WWI." - Ken/Dirtnap |

| WITCHES | Forever LP/CD from Bakery Outlet - Punk by allegiance and attitude, pop by virtue of their wistful melodicism, Witches are a band borne of singularly American originality. Cara Beth Satalino is a New York-born chanteuse with a rougher than typical edge. Michael Clancy, a fellow Yankee, is a self-taught drummer of natural ability and feel. Jared Gandy, veteran of Athens groups with both DIY punk and Elephant Six Collective pedigree alike, rounds out the band's lineup on bass guitar. The band takes touches of the Breeders' feminine boldness, Des Ark's brusque emotional stance, and the wide-open, true rock n' roll worldliness of Midwestern punk idols the Replacements. |

| WORRIERS | Past Lives 7" from No Idea - Folks from The Measure [sa], Night Birds, & Hunchback. Three songs; includes a download code! Here's a nice review! "First off, three-song EPs are the best. Quick, easy, and in the case of New Jersey’s Worriers, totally enjoyable. Featuring members of Night Birds and the Measure [SA], Worriers tread the lighter side of the punk path, with pop hooks and sing-along choruses. Fans of both Night Birds’ raw garage punk/hardcore and the Measure [SA]’s speedier, gruffer punk will find even more melody to latch onto, but without as much immediate punch. Instead, we get a slow burn that sounds inspired by folk-punkers the Weakerthans (fittingly, one song is called “Deconstruction Site”) with sweet female vocals by Lauren Denitzio that swoon in their off-key awkwardness, much in the same vein as John K. Samson. The nonchalant opening riff of “Promise Me (You'll Never Say That In Front Of My Friends)” is particularly charming. Another great thing about super-short EPs is they keep us interested for a potential full-length or, even better, subsequent EPs. It’s good to hear Worriers are sticking with it—and will hopefully deliver more stellar pop-punk songs soon." - Alternative Press |
