| 12XU | Salut Les Jeunes b/w Si Bon Marche 7" from Purepainsugar/Puzzle Records/Echo Canyon | BUY 7":$4.75 |
| ABE FROMAN | Abe Froman LP from Harlan - These are the LAST COPIES of this classic pop-punk album feat. Erin and Matt Tobey (Pink Razors, Good Luck, respectively) and Ryan from Hissyfit. It sounds like if Cleveland Bound Death Sentence were little kids. Sure to be near the front of anyone's alphabetized record collection. | BUY LP:$5.75 |
| ACEPHALIX | Acephalix 7" from Prank - A brutal combination of low end metallic distortion, pummeling riffs and gnarled vocals, San Francisco's ACEPHALIX's debut 4- song 7" takes influence from all over the map of extreme music - from CELTIC FROST to CRO-MAGS and INTEGRITY, from WOLFPACK and later ANTI-CIMEX to SACRILEDGE and AXEGRINDER, but has hammered out and forged its own sound by relentless gigs around the SF Bay Area over the past year. Featuring current and former members of THE RIFFS, DEPRESSOR, POISON IDEA, DEFIANCE, DEATHCHARGE and BLOWN TO BITS, this is the heaviest thing Prank has released in almost fifty releases, a modern attack; yet reminiscent of early classic Prank releases by DAMAD, ELDOPA 1332 and the bleak punk metal fusions of the late 90's and early 00's. First printing in a foil stamped sleeve! | BUY 7":$3.75 |

| AIRFIX KITS | Flex Time 7" from Deranged | BUY 7":$4.75 |
| AIRFIX KITS | Playing Both Sides 7" from Dirtnap - Tense, brittle, working class postpunk from San Francisco. Features 2/3rds ex-members of Giant Haystacks. We here at Dirtnap were fans of that band, but we think Airfix Kits are better, hookier, and more direct. The band has described their sound as "Gang Of Four getting rat-arsed on cider and covering the entire Strength Through Oi! comp". That sounds good, let's roll with it. | BUY 7":$3.50 |

| BANNER PILOT | Pass the Poison LP from Kiss of Death - 7 songs on a one-sided record! Banner Pilot is a punk band from sunny Minneapolis, MN. What do they sound like? Well, imagine if Jawbreaker, Lawrence Arms and Alkaline Trio got in a knife fight and Jawbreaker won - but just barely. That's what they say they sound like. Does that even make sense? Probably not, but this is the first EP by Banner Pilot that was released only on CD originally and is finally seeing the light of day on this one-sided slab of wax. |

| BARRAKUDA MCMURDER | Slow Crawl 7" from It's Alive - This is Grath Madden of The Steinways first band and first release since the unfortunate end of The Steinways (www.myspace.com/thesteinways). If you were a fan of his past material you're sure to love this new EP. The melodies and harmonies are back in full force as well as the shitty attitude. The songs are still about a crappy life, love and all that junk, but they read a little more personal than his past efforts. A great first release from a new band showing lots of promise. Note: Grath's next incarnation of this band is called House Boat (www.myspace.com/houseboattakesnoprisoners) and they will have a debut album out this Fall on It's Alive Records. |

| BENARD / WORN IN RED | 7" from No Breaks - Atlanta's Benard delivers blistering spazzed-out post-hardcore with their 2 tracks - in the vein of Jehu, Army of Ponch, and early Small Brown Bike. Virginia's Worn In Red provides an explosively epic indie-punk anthem - in the vein of 400 Years, Glass & Ashes, and Refused. | BUY 7":$3.50 |
| BLACK WINE | Black Wine LP from Don Giovanni - Debut album from Jeff Schroek of The Ergs! and Miranda Taylor and J. Nixon of Hunchback. At times grungy, at times poppy, fans of Mudhoney, The Ergs, and Hunchback take note. | BUY LP:$8.00 |

| BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! / LAURA STEVENSON & THE CANS | 7" from Kiss of Death - When BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! started doing tours, the plan was always to tour with our friends and put out split 7"s covering each others' songs for those tours. Not that it really worked out, but when they decided to tour with their friends' bands and play cheaper all ages shows again, LAURA STEVENSON & THE CANS was the obvious choice. This seven inch features one original by each band and one cover of each other’s songs. Following in this theme, the bands designed the cover artwork for each other, making this a perfect summer release to accompany the tour. The LAURA side focuses on sweet melodies and smooth vocals, while the BOMB side aurally represents the reason my buddy Murray says he still likes going to punk rock shows! On various kinds of colored vinyl! | BUY 7":$3.50 |
| BOMB, THE | Speed is Everything LP/CD from No Idea Records - "Naked Raygun was a huge inspiration for me. Along with Fugazi and Leatherface, they helped create the bedrock that defines the "Gainesville sound". As much as I discredit the root idea that such a sound even exists or is quantifiable to such a finite point, I will at least concede that there are certain key influences for many a young (at heart) local miscreant. I digress. The fact that twenty-one years after NR played a legion hall in Gainesville, we are putting out a record that not only stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best NR album, but perhaps surpasses, well, this blows me away. I have a hard time finding words that express how much Pezzati's voice shakes me to the core. So I'll abandon words entirely and quote the man himself "Whoa Hey Ho". Yes. This record means that much. Crafting the music and bringing the workhorse/powerhouse ethic are Jeff Dean, Mike Soucy, and Pete Mittler, who have truly risen to the occasion. They have been in countless Chicago bands, and continue to split their time with several noteworthy, exceptional bands, including The Methadones and Four Star Alarm. Energy. Focus. Intensity. As if it could get any better, the album was recorded by J. Robbins, who also makes appearances on various songs. He really brought out the best in the band and songs, amplifying and directing, especially in the vocal harmonies and melodies. Pezzati turned in vocals on the last Paint It Black album, and Dan Yemin returns the favor here. Bob Nanna also lends his inimitable pipes to the mix." - -Var **LP includes download code! |

| BORN/DEAD | 24 Hostages 7" from Prank - New, on ORANGE vinyl! Oakland, California's BORN/DEAD's debut 5- song 7" EP set the blueprint for the bands searing attack of guitar driven hardcore, with harsh dual vocal trade offs spitting bleak Anarcho-punk lyrics and pounding, fast drumming. Re-issued on Gold vinyl with a mini poster, the original artwork, bonus inner sleeve and pressed from the original plates, this release has been out of print for over five years, though the songs have remained staples of BORN/DEAD's live shows worldwide. Prank has licensed this EP from NO OPTIONS records as a re-release, strictly limited to 800 copies, to coincide with BORN/DEAD's 2009 Summer tour of Europe: dates at www.prankrecords.com! | BUY 7":$3.50 |

| BRIDGE AND TUNNEL | East/West LP/CD from No Idea - Okay, so you've got this badass record, recorded by a bunch of really nice people, each committed in their own way to underground networking, friendships, and speaking out against society's ills. Two ladies and two gentlemen. The main vocals alternate between Jeff and Rachel, with Tia chiming in and everyone stepping up in the choruses, weaving their voices throughout. The guitars interplay in exciting ways one exploring a tangent, the other grounding. They like burritos, coffee, bicycles, and good karma. Their songs are aggressive and loud with large amounts of reverb. Engaging, melodic, and soothing when they want to be, they ebb and flow, taking plenty of time to unfold. BRIDGE AND TUNNEL remind me of an aggressive CURSIVE or BRAID with the rhythmic backbone of HOT WATER MUSIC or FUGAZI and a swirl of later-era SMALL BROWN BIKE. There you go! ?? | CHUCK RAGAN & AUSTIN LUCAS | Bristle Ridge LP/CD from Ten Four Records - "Hello friends! I've just completed a new record with some great friends. Jon Gaunt and I teamed up with Austin Lucas, his father Bob Lucas, and Bass fiddle man Digger Barnes. Together we hit it off from the start and comprised a solid record of 12 numbers. What we came up with was a great and special moment unexpected by all of us there. Austin and I have planned this project for sometime now, even though this record is considered a split collaboration between all of us involved. The songs consist of 3 Chuck Ragan originals, 3 Austin Lucas originals, 3 Ragan/Lucas originals, 1 original by Bob Lucas, and 2 old time standards called Darling Corey and Distant Land To Roam. The record has a very strong sense of bluegrass, folk and old time gospel, with a certain feel of exactly where we were and what was going on when we laid it down, which was a group of strangers coming together to enjoy good food and music up in the hills on the highest point of Ohio for a week, and leaving as friends by the end. We recorded this session at Bob Lucas and Laura Gayle's home on top of Bristle Ridge in Zanesfield, Ohio. It was truly a sight and time to remember and we owe these kindred spirits for this great memory!" --Chuck |

| COPYRIGHTS / DOPAMINES | Songs About Fucking Up 7" from It's Alive - Two of the very best bands the underground has to offer in the way of melodic-pop-punk-rock. At some point the new-school becomes the old-school, or at least the not-so-new-school. The Copyrights were the new kids on the block seven years ago when they got started, but today have become a band that is inspiring newer, younger acts. The Dopamines are undeniably one of these bands. This EP showcases both bands at their very best doing what they do best - singing about fucking up! |

| CROW | Flock of Beast 7" from Prank - Tokyo Legends CROW return with two new blasting tracks of doomy metallic punk mayhem "Flock of Beast" and "Flock of Beast 2". Thundering deeper into epic, mid-tempo metallic territory on the A-side with CROW's trademark gravel-drawn vocals over searing riffs, this EP echoes their recent "The Beating of the Wings of Destruction" 12" by exploding on the B-side into ferocious, fast-paced hardcore. CROW origins date back to the early Japanese punk scene of the 1980's, but they have attacked in the last decade with a renewed intensity, culminating this decade in two US tours and a second album "Bloody Tear" which was released in the U.S. by Prank in 2007. As unexpected as a new full album was so soon after "The Great Depression", we were equally so very happy when we heard it! This is exactly what we needed to get us through the day: direct, yet sometimes poetic and personal lyrics that touch on politics and daily life, lotsa instruments weaving in and out, great string interplay... exactly what the doc ordered. Both realistic and uplifting, all the while grounded and imaginative. This may well be their best yet. "The List" melts my brain every time. | DELAY | Plain Language LP/CD from Salinas/Plan-It-X - Delay's sixth full length blitzes by, leaving you dizzy with thinking-person's melodies. If you thought you knew this Ohio band, this record deserves a close listen. The band have learned to squeeze a ton out of the bare bones three-piece with beautifully crafted guitar lines, and harmonies bouncing back and forth. It's sometimes a loaded statement to say a pop-punk band has matured, but 2009 was a good vintage for Delay. |

| DROP DEAD / TOTALITAR | 7"/CDep from Prank - On Clear or Pink vinyl! Combining two of the longest running and best- loved hardcore bands on the planet. Rhode Island?s DROPDEAD have flown the flag of extreme political thrash since the early nineties, with numerous 7's, 12"s, 5"s, and even an 11" to their credit. A whopping six tracks are slapped onto one 7" side, representing some of their most savage material since their 1991 debut EP. Sweden's TOTALITAR dates back to the "silver age" of Swedish hardcore in the mid to late 1980s, delivering pounding, classic hardcore punk cast out of the DISCHARGE mold. Always topically astute, TOTALITAR have been even more productive in the last decade, with two LPs, two split LPs and a heap of seven inches to their credit, casting their appeal way beyond a "cult band." Their three songs have a looser and more garage feel, but steamroll within their classic explosive formula. |

Musically, Fellow Project drops some bad-ass Fugazi influenced hits on your ass. - Glenn Jonesin': From the ashes of Down In The Dumps. | GANGELHOFF, NATE | You Idiot: The First Book Paperback Book from Arsenic Books - This book collects the first four issues of the fanzine You Idiot, the first issue of the fanzine Whiskey Plus, a previously unpublished issue of each, and a bit of other unpublished content. Not convinced? Here's the blurb from the back of the book: If you've ever wondered whether or not Hulk Hogan's rap album is any good, or if the anti-drug song recorded by the 1987 LA Lakers helped prevent kids from trying PCP, or if an obscure text called The Miracle of Psycho-Command Power can, as it claims, make you a new car out of bubbles, then you've found the right book. Way to go. Indeed, the answers to those burning unknowns and many others can be found inside of You Idiot: The First Book. Collecting the first four issues of the fanzine You Idiot, one issue of the fanzine Whiskey Plus, and a previously unreleased issue of each, the book tackles a slew of bewildering subjects in a brave, take-minimal-prisoners approach that will blow you away or at least cause you to shrug. Anti-drug video games, cartoons, pencils, rap songs, and comic books receive a critical look. Bizarre religious people who think that Satan is behind things like My Little Pony and DC Talk are examined at length. Vital topics such as cat astrology, drunken karaoke singers, and preachers who burn Journey albums are studied. Psychic predictions made in the 1970s are graded for accuracy. A message board devoted to He-Man toys is infiltrated. Bands rehearsing in a practice space are reviewed. Stuff like that. Nothing here is particularly groundbreaking, but it should make you think, or laugh, or at least think about laughing before deciding not to. | BUY Paperback Book:$10.00 |

| GATEWAY DISTRICT | Some Days You Get the Thunder LP/CD from It's Alive - The Gateway District is one of the latest and definitely greatest bands to come out of the Minneapolis, MN scene. Members include Maren (of the Soviettes and Salteens), Carrie (of American Monsters and Salteens), Brad (of Dear Landlord and Rivethead) and Nate (of Banner Pilot, OWTH and Rivethead). Call it a super-group, a side project or whatever you want. All three songwriters bring a style of their own to this album, making for a great mix of character and approach from song to song. The artwork is fantastic, with a 16-page full color booklet. Each band member contributed art for each of their songs, so again, three styles come together to make for an awesome whole. | GDP | Realistic Expectations CD+DVD from Say-10 Records - GDP recorded two songs in 2008 for a split 7” and US tour with Florida's Spanish Gamble (Paper and Plastick Records). The video for “Succumb” which appeared on the split release quickly earned him notoriety. Citing influences everywhere from Slick Rick to Ian MacKaye, GDP has performed alongside some of the biggest names in hip hop including Wu Tang Clan, Rah Digga, Large Professor, C-Rayz Walz and Grandmaster Caz. Meanwhile, he's also established himself in hardcore, punk, indie and electro music circuits, performing with Skeletonwitch, Captain Ahab, Trap Them, Dead to Me, Japanther, OCDJ and more. This 14-song CD showcases GDP's cynical yet sincere demeanor and meticulously crafted, raw lyricism in all its glory. Realistic Expectations comes packaged as a double disc along with a 30- minute DVD titled “Expect Real,” a collection of behind the scenes footage, live performances and plenty of extra features. | BUY CD+DVD:$7.00 |

| GOD EQUALS GENOCIDE | It Wasn't Made For Us 7" from Recess/Razorcake - God Equals Genocide return with their fourth release and once again find themselves playing… a four-part prog rock ballad about the unrequited love between an orca and a unicorn… Nah. Just fuckin’ with you. God Equals Genocide is back at doing what they do best: playing occasionally-frilly, fun-as-hell DIY punk. If Crass didn’t take themselves so damned seriously. If the Bananas were stripped down to the barest essentials. Mix ‘em up until completely inseparable. That’s God Equals Genocide. Take the nausea felt from the poisoned tip of modern world poking you constantly in the side, but don’t give into it. Inoculate yourself with joyful bouncing, with songs that don’t flinch from truths ugly and beautiful; never veering from the idea of having a good time in spite of it all. RIYL: Ramshackle faith in barely working tour vehicles. Shivery shakiness in songs. Basses with two strings. Clothing with patches and stains that don’t come out in the wash. Black Rainbow. Intricate and direct, raucous and thoughtful, noodley and restrained. This record puts me in a good mood. Some days it's all I need to get through. Do you like Paul Baribeau, The Weakerthans, and Bridge And Tunnel? I think that would be a great show. Let's set it up!" - Var. It has the street cred of former band members like REVERSAL OF MAN and COMBAT WOUNDED VETERAN though you may not know it listening to this record. The sound is more post hardcore and ambient in the vein of ENGINE DOWN and QUICKSAND, some even say in the vein of “The Moon is Down” era FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER. | HADITUPTOHERES, THE | Wild City, Honest Dancing LP from Salinas - The Hadituptoheres are a three-piece punk band from Detroit, MI. Wild and honest are apt words for the title of their second full length. They sound like an urgent barrage of unguarded feeling, stripped as bare as the artwork on the record. The lyrics are almost Craig Finn-esque at times, a poetry as chaotic and unassumingly beautiful as their hometown, layered over a backbeat that sounds like a more bombastic Toys That Kill. Exploring punk's middle ground: not sugary, but far from macho. "Detroit is easy, baby!" Who's paying attention? | BUY LP:$8.50 |

| HELLO SHITTY PEOPLE | Hello Shitty People LP from 1-2-3-4-Go! - "Hello Shitty People left this world in 2001, leaving behind a 7” on This Here Records and an LP recorded but never released. I bought that 7” based on their band name alone almost 9 years ago. How could a band called “Hello Shitty People” not be good? Anyway I’ve honestly treasured that little record ever since. The true early Crimpshriney spirit of East Bay Pop punk had been picked up, kicked in the side and made weirder by these southern gents in a way I honestly don’t think has been done better by anyone claiming to do the same thing. It’s dark, it’s positive, it has bass lines that make Matt Freeman look like a rank amateur. I’m only half joking about that last one. These guys came from and went on to be in bands like Los Canadians, Radon, Cortez The Killer and a million others." |

| HOLOPAW | Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness. LP/CD from Obscurist Press/Bakery Outlet - We're very excited to see Holopaw back at it with their third full-length, Oh, Glory Oh, Wilderness. After two acclaimed records with Sub Pop, Florida natives John Orth and Jeff Hays changed their strategy in favor of a more scaled-down, home-grown approach to creating music. What you have here is Holopaw's second coming: ten tracks of lulling guitar and meaningful lyricisms that encompass the struggle and hard work of putting a band back together. "Little Stallion With A Glass Jaw" elegantly exemplifies the sense of urgency behind Holopaw's new line-up (including Patrick Quinney of Fiya/Nervous Dogs) to the tune of added strings, drums & horns. Tales spun together through encounters with "Boys On Motorbikes" and "The Lazy Matador" unwind perfectly with lyrics about sweetness, longing and the potential for some violence. Oh, Glory Oh, Wilderness sees Holopaw at their best that fans of Destroyer, Fruit Bats & Califone will instantly find something to love with Holopaw's new offering! |

| HOMEWRECKERS, THE | Daydreaming About Assholes 7" from Kiss of Death - At first listen, THE HOMEWRECKERS sound like a more pissed-off version of THE DISTILLERS. | KING FRIDAY | Married Alive CD from Fast Crowd - "King Friday picks up right where Fay Wray left off. Or do they? I think King Friday was a band first. Who cares? This album is the bee's balls. 14 great songs from some of the originators of Florida's underground punk scene. These are some of the dudes that started it all. Songs about... well... drinking, girls, and other stupid stuff old people shouldn't be singing about. It's absolutely wonderful. If you play guitar, I bet track 8 makes you sad with the realization that you will never write such tasteful guitar licks." - J. Wang |

| LEAD SKETCH UNION | Our Sea CD from Poison City - "Our Sea" is the second brilliant album from Melbourne's LEAD SKETCH UNION. Known for their powerful style of punk inspired indie-rock, LEAD SKETCH UNION have successfully given "Our Sea" a distinct Australian (or perhaps more specifically Melbourne) feel, a sound and spirit also embraced by bands such as Mid Youth Crisis, Blueline Medic and A Death In The Family over the past decade. Produced by Samuel Johnson (A Death In The Family, The Gifthorse, Coue Method etc) "Our Sea" is by far LEAD SKETCH UNION's most intense and engaging material to date with an instant appeal to both fans of melodic punk-rock and Australian indie-rock. |

| LEATHERFACE | The Stormy Petrel 2xLP/CD from No Idea - **2xLP STARTS SHIPPING IN LATE MARCH! CD WILL BE OUT MARCH 23rd! This moment is quite literally twenty years in the making for me. What's the story here? Is it about a kid hearing a band for the first time in 1990? Is it about the impact felt by a vastly influential, yet humbly underground band? Let us just say that without LEATHERFACE there would be no HOT WATER MUSIC as we know them. THE TIM VERSION and TILTWHEEL would have a big problem. And there would be a lot less tattoos of boats. I have reached the conclusion that this is enough. That AND a big, fancy pre-order version of the new record that in some small way attempts to salute the Boat and their brilliant new album. Without further ado... Twelve songs spread over four sides, cut at maximum volume and fidelity in glorious 45 RPM on RED VINYL!! Full-color pocket sleeve, jacket, and labels. Screenprinted accents on jacket. Bonus tour poster and sticker. This pressing is LIMITED to 500 copies!! Different artwork than the overseas release! (The version in stores will be a single-LP cut at 33 RPM.) Never say I don't love you. |

| LEGENDARY SAN DIEGO CHARGERS / SUNNYSIDE | Give 'em Enough Booze 7" from It's Alive - Earlier this year San Diego's Sunnyside did a west coast tour with Minnesota's Pretty Boy Thorson & The Fallin' Angels. Pretty Boy were touring as a three piece instead of their usual five. On top of that, Brad Landlord was filling in on drums. Apparently they didn't know how to play too many PBT songs, and The Legendary San Diego Chargers were born out of the mess! If you took the country out of PBT, the punk rock core you'd be left with is exactly what TLSDC sound like - hard driving, singalong songs with a bunch of gravel in the guts. Sunnyside are everything that was and is great about the San Diego punk sound of the glory days when pop punk was big shit down there. They know how to put together a catchy tune without any of the unnecessary glitzy garbage. The vocals are unpolished and harsh at best - a perfect match for the crunchy pop punk music it fronts. This is the first of near forty releases we've put out to date with a southern California band. We were waiting for something gnarly and got just that. |

| LIFETIME | Lifetime LP from No Idea - Back in print on new colored vinyl! When word came that LIFETIME had reformed and was recording a new album, long time fans were ecstatic, as were tons of kids who had discovered the band AFTER they called it a day. This self-titled album came out in 2007. It had a super limited vinyl run that was gone before it appeared, wham bam! The idea of bringing the vinyl out on No Idea was hatched during a late night (okay, mid-afternoon) brainstorming session with a mysterious shadowy figure (okay, Dan Yemin), in which minds were twisted, arms were wrestled, and ultimately a wave of positivity flooded the room (okay, internet) and a vision of happiness came into bloom (okay, I had a big ole smile). We bottled and released this happiness into the offices of FBR and they were swept up in the euphoria too (okay, it was a few emails and they were cool with it). THE POINT IS: We are happy as pie to press this here LP for you and yours. Yeah! Whoo! |

| MANGES | Rocket to Hollywood LP from It's Alive - The Manges bring a ton of energy and excellent musicianship with them every time they take a stage. Much like their heroes the Ramones they make every live show count. This live album plays more like a greatest hits or best of album - all hits without any misses. There are a couple of Ramones covers thrown in for good measure, of course. Rocket To Hollywood was recorded during the summer of 2007 at Safari Sams in Hollywood, CA while on their third tour of the states, this time with The Queers and The Methadones. It was a great show start to finish and this recording captured the fun-loving spirit of the night perfectly. A split release with Cheapskate Records (Conecticut, USA), Squinty Joe Records (UK) and Peabrain Records (Denmark). | BUY LP:$8.50 |
| MARKED MEN | Fix My Brain LP/CD from Dirtnap - "Reissue of the 3rd Marked Men LP, which shows the band's pop sensibilities in full bloom. Not only are the Marked Men one of our very favorite bands of the 00's, but at this point we'd put 'em up there as one of Texas' great musical exports. Originally issued on Swami Records in 2006, this release put the Marked Men on many people's radar, and remains some folks' favorite to this day. Unfortunately, this thing has been unavailable for quite some time (especially the vinyl), so we thought we'de do you a favor and make this available once again. You can thank us later." - Ken/Dirtnap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GH7KEQQ0YY |

| MARKED MEN | Ghosts LP/CD from Dirtnap - "Blurring the rawness and velocity of their self-titled debut with the slightly more developed songwriting "chops" of the last two, the Marked Men have truly delivered the best of both worlds. Since their debut album came out on Rip Off in 2002 (reissued in 2008 on Dirtnap!), the Marked Men have established themselves as one of the best, most distinctive, compelling, and instantly recognizable punk bands of the 2000's. They're also quickly becoming one of the more influential. Despite that, you can pop the needle on "Ghosts" for 5 seconds and instantly be left without a doubt as to whom you are listening. It ain't pop-punk. It ain't power-pop. It ain't KBD or '77 style punk. At this point, the Marked Men sound like absolutely no one but themselves. The bad news is that this will be their last album for a couple of years, as co-lead vocalist/guitarist/total musical genius Jeff Burke is currently living in Japan. The good news is that the band swears they are NOT broken up, just on extended hiatus. We couldn't possibly be more honored that the Marked Men saw fit to return to our humble label, and are looking forward to doing more stuff with them (and hopefully their new, as yet unformed bands) in the coming years!" - Ken / Dirtnap |

| MEAN JEANS | Are You Serious LP/CD from Dirtnap - THE MEAN JEANS are the kids that live down the street that blare the Ramones and the Angry Samoans late at night while they are playing "Edward 40s Hands". They have 3 things in their refrigerator: ketchup, beer and slime. THE MEAN JEANS were born when, at the ripe ages of 23 and 24, Jeans Wilder (skins, vox and smokes) and Billy Jeans (vox, riffs and spliffs) started playing their parent's DC-area basements in the winter of 2006. They grew another member, Howie Doodat (AKA Jean Jeans on the bass guitar), after moving to Portland, OR a year later. The 13 garage pop tunes of Are You Serious harkens back to the Lookout! Records of the early ‘90s, when pop-punk meant snotty low-brow 3 chord goodness and not glossy soundtracks to mall strolls. Like any good Cretin’s soundtrack, the "songs about partying" vs. "songs about girls" ratio leans fully toward PBR fueled pogo punk. Pitchfork already said THE MEAN JEANS "comes over like the Ramones mixed with a pinch of Joan Jett’s classic "Bad Reputation" and makes you want to slam dance with its guitar riffs and rollicking drumbeats." | METHADONES | Gary Glitter 7" from It's Alive - "Gary Glitter" - the first 7" release by The Methadones - picks up right where their "21st Century Power Pop Riot" album left off with an ode to the king of glam himself. On the opening track "Gary Glitter", The Methadones proudly display their love for the man's music with the song's stomping beat, slick riffs and gang vocal choruses, but in lyric show a distaste for the man himself by asking plain and simple, "What the fuck is wrong with Gary Glitter?" The flipside of the ep features the straight up pop punk gem "Over The Moon." Few people can write a song as catchy and perfect in its simplicity as front man Dan Schafer. This EP showcases The Methadones ability to not only write and record different styles of music, but to excel at it! |

MORPHEME's debut solo release after a quickly sold out demo tape and recently released a split 7" EP with Nagoya Japan's DCLONE, Recorded by Greg Wilkinson at Ear Hammer studios in Oakland, it captures the bands wild live delayed vocal effects and distorted attack. | NORTH LINCOLN | Midwestern Blood LP/CD from No Idea - A few years ago, somebody coined the term "Midwestern beer- belly despair rock" to describe a handful of bands emanating from the greater Illinois/Michigan era, and the moniker couldn't be more aptly fitting for North Lincoln. Hailing from the reeling metropolis of Grand Rapids, deeply rooted in a community that rode the post-industrial wave of collapse and still struggles to keep its head above water, North Lincoln embodies a newer wave of working-class punk rock that ditches the anthemic trappings of Boston and New York and instead builds on the melancholy hymns of luminaries like JAWBREAKER and LEATHERFACE. They've added a healthy dash of HOT WATER MUSIC's hoarsely-shouted defiance to craft their own niche - desperate without implying resignation, helpless without feeling hopeless, downhearted but never defeated. It's furious mid-tempo rock heavily steeped in distorted minor chords, all tied together by lyrics that scrutinize the turbulent personal and social relationships found in their community and, more likely than not, mirrored in our own. LP is colored vinyl and includes a download code! |

| OLD GROWTH / 12XU | 7" from Bakery Outlet/Pure Pain Sugar - "Old Growth gives 2 new songs splintering in either direction from their full length offerings. Luke sings the aggressive almost Yabra-like "Hey Young" with guitar representing both traditional and indie solos. "A Year in the Dirt" brings additional strings in the way of violin and vocal melody backed by female counterpart to form a perfected midpace pop number. Lyon France's 12XU shows that members of Daitro can write quite a different tune pointing to simplified well formed punk rock the way it was originally recognized some decades ago. 2 straight forward soulful numbers provide a great followup to their own 2 7"s already in existence. One Rick Froberg was commissioned for cover illustration and lyrics come to you in tongues of English and French. Si! I mean Oui! This record also comes with download card for digital punks." --Rich/Bakery Outlet | BUY 7":$3.75 |
| OMEGAS | Sonic Order 7" from High Anxiety / No Idea - Colored Vinyl + Download Code. First Press of 500. "Montreal's Omegas are the best of all possible worlds - raw and catchy as hell but just loose enough, just dysfunctional enough and just smart enough in all the right places, and natural, like very few modern punk bands with 80's sensibilities are able to be. Sonic Order is their second session recorded and mixed by Jonah Falco (Fucked Up). Fans of joyboy unity, street meat and the slam skank - do not sleep on this band!" -- Chris Colohan. | BUY 7":$3.50 |

| PINK RAZORS | Leave Alive LP/CD from Houseplant Records/No Idea - In the wake of great change for punk-pop purveyors PINK RAZORS, their second album "Leave Alive" reflects the band's transformations. The band's penchant for hooks, crunch, and speed remain intact here but are given more room to breathe, resulting in longer, more developed pop constructions that explore different tempos. Early listeners cite a more pop-punk SUPERCHUNK, or a cleaner SCARED OF CHAKA. This first release since adding new member Erin Tobey was recorded just before she and principal songwriter, Jeff Grant, left their Richmond, VA home base for the smaller town of Bloomington, IN. With drummer Adam Monroe hopping around the US between seasonal forest service jobs and bassist Justin Owen still in Richmond, the band's rare opportunities to meet up for shows, recording, or writing seem only more significant now. Amidst this turbulence, the band grabbed the reins of their fate by releasing the LP version of this sophomore full-length on their own upstart, Houseplant Records (after time as the black sheep on Robotic Empire, and a follow-up 7" on Rorschach). And now No Idea has released the CD! |

| POTENTIAL JOHNS, THE | The Potential Johns 7" from Dirtnap - Solo pop explorations courtesy of Jeff Burke of The Marked Men! 2 tracks of lo fi pop genius, recorded on the eve of Jeff's moving to Japan. While retaining the catchiness and energy of past efforts, the songwriting here takes a turn for the reflective and bittersweet, and the tempos are slowed down a bit from the break-neck pace of your typical Marked Men song. Still rocks like crazy, though. All copies come with a download code! | BUY 7":$3.50 |
| PSYCHED TO DIE | Scatter Brained 7" from Dirtnap - Four songs! A companion piece to the recently released Year One CD (they were supposed to be released at the same time, but, you know......) | BUY 7":$3.50 |
| PSYCHED TO DIE | Year One CD from Dirtnap - Psyched To Die practically qualify as a New Jersey punk all-star band, being composed of ex-members of The Ergs, For Science, Hunchback and a bunch more. Forget all that, though, this sounds nothing like any of those bands. (Mikey Erg is nothing if not versatile!) Starting off as a straightforward DC-meets early Touch And Go hardcore band with lyrics about as uplifting as the name would suggest, Psyched To Die's newer material slows it down just a bit and explores the area where punk and early hardcore intersect, kind of a cross between Dangerhouse and early Orange County hardcore. (if the song title "OCD Life" is not a Rikk Angew nod, it should be!) Happy-fun-time music this ain't. This is fast, dirty, bleak and negative, but still pretty darn catchy. This CD compiles the as-yet-unreleased Dirtnap 7" (patience!), the Sterile Walls 7" released on Grave Mistake/Firestarter, the 8 song demo (some of their best stuff in our humble opinion!) and may or may not include a hidden bonus track. You'll just have to buy it and find out! |

As with all the Lookout era Screeching Weasel being re-released on the unbowed vinyl format, same goes for The Queers! | RAYDIOS, THE | Now LP/CD from Dirtnap/Mangrove - Our first release from a Japanese band, and we couldn't really ask for a better one than this. For those not in the know, the Raydios is Fink from the legendary Teengenerate and Firestarter's current band. This is their 2nd album, coming about 10 years (!) after their Demo LP on Screaming Apple. The CD version of Now was released by Japan's Mangrove Records last year (and is being distributed by Dirtnap in the USA), and is just now seeing the light of day on vinyl. It's been remastered for vinyl and re-mixed by Fink himself, and sounds GREAT. Musically this is no frills, crunchy, mid tempo rock n roll. Less trashy than Teengenerate, but not quite as "pop" as Firestarter, this is kinda a middle ground between the two. Total dream release for Dirtnap. Pinch us. |

| RINGERS | Hurry Up & Wait LP from 1-2-3-4-Go! - Their third album. 7 songs clocking in at just under 20 minutes. It's like riding a trainwreck with a smile on your face, a drink in your hand and your heart on your sleeve. You're scared to death but still trying to have a good time. I honestly can't think of a better metaphor for the lyrical content of this album. It confronts the worst parts of life with out reveling in them and accepts the reality that it's not all bad times without being sappy and overly positive. Musically you're getting gritty pop punk with elements of everyone from The Clash, The Replacements, Rancid, and oft compared to contemporaries like Bent Outta Shape and Dillinger Four...although I honestly don't hear the last two, but I accept that other people do. Every album results in more complex song writing and delivery, and if they can keep the train on the tracks I think they'll be one of those bands that everyone else gets compared to in a few years. Real talk. Recorded by Will Killingsworth (Orchid/Ampere/Dead Air Studios). First press limited to 800 copies with hand stamped inner labels; includes download code! |

| ROME ROMEO | Rome Romeo EP 12" from Machette Records - **ON CLEAR or BLACK vinyl! New band from Olivier Maguire & Genevieve Tremblay (FIFTH HOUR HERO)! Five songs! It's a Canadian import! "Veterans of their native Quebec’s D.I.Y. scene as well as the national and international touring circuit, Montreal’s Rome Romeo offers up an audible testament to progression. Broadening outward from their past punk inclinations, the band’s members collaborate their individual abilities and tastes into a refined and seamless culmination of influence. Embodying elements of sultry, reverb-laden contemporary garage styling, throw-back pre-punk, and dissonant post-whatever, they tactfully incorporate both pop-sensibility and grating, minor- keyed challenge. It may be a bit more toned down than what some of their past bands involved, but intensity, aggression, and conviction are retained with sophistication. The bass growls, drums churn, and guitars and keys waiver in between all-out drive and sparsely arranged intertwined dissonance. At the forefront, female-led vocals deliver stirring, powerful captivation. Although they’re barely onto their feet, Rome Romeo provides a sense of fervor, aptitude, and creative craft that suggests vast experience. With their first recordings new listeners as well as enthusiasts of the members’ previous efforts should inevitably find bounty to reap and the promise of great things to come." -- Brian Moss (San Francisco Weekly Music Critic) Includes download code! | BUY 12":$9.50 |

"Recess is currently going through high emotions due to the grantage of releasing most of Screeching Weasel's catalog on vinyl. The first installment is the classic second album Boogadaboogadaboogada. Originally released on Roadkill Records, then bootlegged in europe, and then re-released on Lookout Records, and now on an updated mastered, deluxe packaged Recess version. This album is reminiscent of the better A.O.D. Stuff, yet has the sign-of-things-to-come classics like "Love", "Stupid Over You", "My Right", "I Wanna Be Naked", and the great great "Hey Suburbia". 26 songs in all!! | SCREECHING WEASEL | Wiggle LP/CD from Recess Records / Asian Man - **On CLEAR, WHITE, RED or GREEN vinyl!** "Wiggle" is SCREECHING WEASEL's 4th full-length, and third in the Recess preservation act of all things Weasel. Ok, now we really understand that there's a strong Ramones influence. When this one was first released, I heard a coupla "Ramones tribute band!" and a coupla "Oh yea?! Let's hear em do "QUESTIONINGLY"!!". Ok maybe I didnt hear the latter. But still, there's super new wave hints while still holding onto a tiny shred of the earlier, Crimpshrine-y bits. Their version of Teenage Head's "AIN'T GOT NO SENSE" rivals the original...in my opinion. The band didn't find this their best record due to a rush to get a "My Brain Hurts" follow up and maybe some unfair expectations, but I think it's one of their best. And because our Ambassador to The Kids license has not yet expired, we give you bonus tracks, never before seen photos (like you care), super buff gatefold jacket, and 4 editions of colored vinyl. Yea... I know." - Todd / Recess |

| SHANNON AND THE CLAMS | I Wanna Go Home LP/CD from 1-2-3-4-Go! - The sound of a prom band in 1964 getting dosed with acid and having the sweetest lovelorn freak out. Imagine a brawling Etta James, backed up by the 13th Floor Elevators singing Shangri La's tunes. It doesn't sound exactly like that, but imagine it. If I ever get a time machine that's the first thing I'm going to try to get to happen. Shannon has a voice that can go from a sweet girl group croon to a bluesy ballsy growl before you realize you're headed for the floor. This is their debut full length following hot on the heels of the "Hunk Hunt" 7" on Weird Hug Records. Recorded by Matthew Melton of the Bare Wires/Snakeflower 2. On tour in the US through November! | SHELLSHAG | Rumors in Disguise LP/CD from Don Giovanni - Epic followup to Destroy Me I'm Yours. The band explains: “Most of the songs on the record are about hope and despair, love and survival, death and fear.” From the grin-laced stubborn pride in Shellʼs vocals on “Resillient Bastard” to Jen Shagʼs tom- heavy heartbeat rhythms on crunchy duet “Means That Much”, every inch put to tape is as real as it gets. Finding honesty and purity of creative expression in the vastness of what our musical landscape has evolved into is a more difficult task than ever before, and it takes a band like Shellshag and a record like Rumors in Disguise to answer that search. | SNUGGLE | Zero Real Hearts LP from 1-2-3-4-Go! - Samiam, Crimpshrine and Rancid. Remember that time you couldn't go wrong with any of those? It's been awhile. Snuggle sounds a bit like if you took the first few records of all of those bands, artfully smashed them to pieces and even more artfully reassembled them in to one giant record and updated it so it wasn't a boring throwback or some inept aping. Snuggle embody what I love about gritty pop punk and the city they hail from, Seattle. It's got the gloom and the get up and go that comes from the heart and not some calculated manipulation. For fans of Off With Their Heads, Crimpshrine, Samiam, Bent Outta Shape, Rancid. On tour through the month of November in the US! |

| SNUGGLE / NO HIGH FIVES TO BULLSHIT | 7" from 1-2-3-4-Go! - Both bands contribute two songs of gravely heart broken pop punk sing alongs. And not that "everything is so great, let's all go ride bikes and hug" sort of gravely pop punk. But the kind that's bummed out about stuff. The good kind. Not that riding bikes and hugging isn't great. Snuggle is literally the best pop punk band from Seattle probably ever. I can't think of another from the area, past or present, that could rival them. They've been hindered for the last few years by the hectic tour schedules of their other bands but watch out for them on their first full US tour in the Fall of 2009! These two songs were originally recorded for their full length but won't appear on the LP to be released in September. No High 5's are from Denver and aren't afraid to call out all this unnecessary high fiving that's been going on lately! Full color cover art by Henderson who is an artistic genious, former member of Shorebirds and moved to one of the Carolinas for some god awful reason!!! First press limited to 500 copies. | BUY 7":$3.75 |
| SOMETHING FIERCE | There Are No Answers LP from Dirtnap - "This is a gem of a record from start to finish - an adrenaline rush of hooks, choruses, and some of the cleverest pop writing since those BUZZCOCKS fellas picked up their guitars." - Maximum Rock N Roll "There Are No Answers is the heart of my 2009 soundtrack." - Razorcake Young kids from Houston with a rock-solid work ethic who like to tour. This band fits in perfectly on Dirtnap: it's catchy, poppy punk that's not really pop-punk, and rocks a little too hard to fit in with the power-pop (have we mentioned that we're really sick of that term?) crowd. Unbelievably catchy, well written, well played (Steven “Babyface” Garcia can play the shit out of his guitar, and bassist Nikki Seven and drummer Andrew Keith are no slouches at their respective instruments, either) poppy punk with heart, brains, and hooks. Lots of hooks. After being blown away by a stellar performance at Portland’s Plan B club back in January, we quickly came to an agreement with these guys to do a new LP in early 2010. Upon reflection, though, we realized we just couldn’t wait that long to wrap our slimy tentacles around this young band, and have decided to rush re-release their recent, self-released CD on vinyl. If there’s a catchier band in the current American punk underground, they should send us their demo! LP includes a download code! | SPITS, THE | The Spits IV (aka "School's Out") LP/CD from Thriftstore/Recess Records - “When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.” —Raoul Duke "A quote that proves to be eerily prescient with the long awaited return of professional weirdos, The SPITS. Fresh from the studio with their fourth self-titled LP on Recess/Thriftstore Records, The SPITS show no sign of slowing down with their latest effort, mixing equal parts Devo and Misfits into an aurally addictive, synth-inflected stew. Describing the music they play as “Punk for the People” these prophets of the proletariat have a message for the masses: The SPITS are the soundtrack to the Apocalypse. The SPITS have never shied away from esoteric subject matter musically. Previous records have contained themes of escaped Nazi war criminals, nuclear winters, commie spies, and terrorist attacks, coupled with back alley booze-fests, brain- bruising bong rips, skateboards, and fisticuffs. With songs about constable evasion (“Police”), Huxley-esque visions of metropolitan horror (“Eyesore City”), and alien abduction (“Alienize”), SPITS #4 should prove to be just as desperately disparate and sonically sordid as previous salvos. In short: Unlike a lot of the bands in the staid punk scene, The SPITS are fun. For the uninitiated, The SPITS are a punk rock band hailing from, well, all over the place, by way of Michigan, and then Seattle. The brothers Wood, Sean and Erin, play guitar and bass respectively, with Lance Phelps on drums and Ernie Quintero banging on the ever present keyboards. While the drums and synth have seen live line-up changes in the past, a constant with the band has been the studio collaboration between the two brothers, and Phelps. From the fuzzed out, over-driven, guitar and vox intro of “Tonight”, and the percussive, submachine gun attack of “Police”, to the cool bottom heaviness of “Life of Crime”, and the lo-fi genius outro of “Flags”, The SPITS fourth offering is the strongest to date; showcasing a band that is only beginning to approach the zenith of its power, as the world dips entropically past its own, toward obliteration. Indeed. Buy the record, take the ride. "-Shawn Durant |

| STREET EATERS | We See Monsters LP/CD from Bakery Outlet - "Both Megan March and Johnny Geek, equal parts of Street Eaters, were born in Oakland, raised in the East Bay, and came of age in the Gilman/Geekfest/Mission Records world. At times you get a glimpse of that East Bay on this record, but the sound more teeters back and forth from bellowed call and response vocals alongside blown out driving to a halt bass and drums to shared pop punk melodies and immediacy. They alternate from the longer more committed number to the shorter burst that leaves you with a 2 minute song complete with "whoah-oh!"s and "hey!"s stuck in your head oftentimes still there when you wake the following morning. They jam econo having no use for a six string guitar. They also play in other bands (Fleshies, Master Volume, Triclops!, Harbinger, Neverending Party, Before The Fall, Younger Lovers, etc.) "We See Monsters" is a vinyl only release that comes with MP3 download card." --Rich/Bakery Outlet |

| THE RIOT BEFORE | Fists Buried in Pockets LP/CD from Say-10 Records - Now available on LP! Richmond, VA's The Riot Before have been a band for barely two years, most of which were spent barreling down the interstates of America as they bounced from basement to basement and all manner of seedy dive bars. Despite the constant touring, they also managed to do something that very few bands can do in a decade: write a cohesive, well-crafted album, where songs work together and flow in a cleverly concocted manner that eventually amounts to a complete piece of art. Thematic elements weave in and out between songs, both musically and lyrically, to create a deceptively complex record that will continue to disclose new secrets with every listen. While each song is fully capable of standing on its own, the true beauty of the album shines through when you actually sit down and read along with the lyrics and appreciate the thought and care that went into crafting the album. If one were to describe The Riot Before's sound, they might say something along the lines of Mike Ness singing for Against Me!, with a healthy dash of the Gaslight Anthem's Americana rock n' roll thrown into the mix to keep the hips swaying. |

| TUBERS / BRAINWORMS | 7" from Bakery Outlet / Rorschach / Dead Tank - Back in print!! "Saint Augustine, Florida in the summertime can be a magical place. A weekend spent there can create twenty years good memories hanging out in the hot Floridian sun with your friends. One moment you're hanging out at your friend's lake house drinking beers doing relay races and in a snapshot, you're playing volleyball cockfighting style on a tarp wet, slippery from dish detergent. For the working man, the summer season is over. Somewhere deep within the northern woods, a trail crew is wrapping up its season with a final all night from dusk 'til dawn rager. Multiple handles of Jack are consumed; PBR freely flow out of cans into mouths, hair, and the ground. People exploit tiki-torches to spit fire igniting a gasoline-soaked chair nestled in the middle of a yet to be started bonfire. Young men and women with shaved mohawks are burning things they don't need anymore like clothing, equipment, and/or facial hair. This is one of those parties where drunk people with an acute attraction for wrestling and making a lot of noise get sweaty with pick axes. Young people are getting weird in the woods and not thinking about tomorrow. As the summer fades to fall, Brainworms sets up to be the houseband. The underground railroad from St. Augustine to Richmond, VA finally comes to listeners in the form of Tuber's split with the almighty Brainworms. Having years of friendship and numerous 12 hour drives built up over time, it only seems natural to have these two bands come together to commemorate friendship and make peace with alligators, whatever that means." --Jeff Beyers | BUY 7":$3.75 |

| V/A - 4-WAY SPLIT #2 from FAST CROWD (Radon, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Vaginasore Jr. & King Friday) | 7" from Fast Crowd - With: Radon, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Vaginasore Jr. & King Friday "Radon leads off the record with a catchy song about traveling, good times, and living simple. Second up is the Kings of American Folk Punk, This Bike is A Pipe Bomb. First up on Side B is Vaginasore Jr. They feature members of Clairmel and The Tim Version. Very catchy pop punk with clever lyrics. Last on the record is King Friday featuring Jeff London, vocalist from the critically underrated band, Fay Wray. I believe King Friday actually existed before Fay Wray, but I’m not sure. I know they have a really old 7” and also have a song on the No Idea comp “The Edible Napkin.” Along with this song, they recorded a full length that will also be coming out soon. Amazing stuff." - J. / Fast Crowd Comes with a 2-color screen printed cover, on Blue-Green Seafoam colored vinyl! |

| WHISKEY TRENCH | Television LP/CD from Kiss of Death - Whiskey Trench's "Television" is a feisty mid-tempo punk album in the time-honored Naked Raygun / Jawbreaker tradition. This French Canadian foursome takes some interesting twists and turns on the new album that one might not expect. The track "Vicious Sore" features definite moments of Screeching Weasel-esque vocals and standout track "Lifelong Sentence" sounds as if it could have easily been a part of Social Distortions earlier punker records. Interspersed between the catchy raging anthems are a couple of excellent instrumental tracks that bring to mind early rockers The Kinks. Lyrically it is introspective, musically the foundation is built tight. |

| WORMBURNER | Wormburner 7" from Salinas - Wormburner is a four piece pop-punk band from Grand Rapids, MI who take a few cues from the gruffness of their other projects (North Lincoln, Traffic and Weather), but instead of power-chords their guitar work is firmly rooted in the melodic sides of bands like Potboiler, or maybe even Braid. | BUY 7":$4.25 |
| WORN IN RED | In The Offing LP/CD from No Idea - Worn In Red hail from the long-standing promised land of thick, blistering hardcore; Virginia. They share hometowns in both Richmond and Charlottesville, drinking deep from a rich history of since-fallen bands like Sleepytime Trio, Hoover, Four Hundred Years, Maximillian Colby, Action Patrol, and Frodus, while also paying tribute to contemporary titans Planes Mistaken For Stars, Glass and Ashes, and Hot Water Music. "Considering how nice these guys are, they sure do yell a lot. They feel like family. Their songs gnawed their way into my brain over the last year, and being involved in this record was not an option: it became an imperative. They will break down the walls, then stay after to sweep up. LP includes download code. CD does not include download code. Go figure!" - Var |
