| ABOVE THEM | Are We A Danger To Ourselves LP from Kiss Of Death - The second album by UK's ABOVE THEM, “Are We A Danger To Ourselves” succeeds completely at its goal to draw you in and quickly makes it way into heavy rotation on your turntable with its guitar hooks with and melodic vocals. From the exhilarating and propulsive “Temper like a Hand Grenade” which sees the band at their driving, energetic best, to the expansive final statement of “Are we a danger...”, ABOVE THEM enable the listener to feel their music in ways that are immediate and pleasurable but also lasting and haunting. Unlike so much music today, it rewards you, giving you the experience of a fulfilled and yet still yearning, lively potential, one that will be further realized when the songs are performed live. | AMPERE | Like Shadows LP/CD from No Idea - **COLORED VINYL LP includes a download code! "Providing the ideal soundtrack to your next Nietzschian nervous breakdown, Like Shadows is another high-water mark for Ampere. Since picking up the flag for intelligent, literate screamo in 2002 when his former band, Orchid, called it quits, guitarist Will Killingsworth and the rest of Ampere have continued to push the boundaries of inventive, aggressive post-hardcore. Like Shadows is the highest-quality recording in their stacked catalog and the sonic crispness of songs such as "Terminally" make all 28 seconds leap out of the stereo. Like Shadows' attack is refined and unbelievably heavy, but has enough dynamics to drive home just how seriously raw and powerful its most explosive moments truly are." - Sam Sutherland / Alternative Press |

| BATON ROUGE | Fragments Deux Memes LP/CD from Bakery Outlet - Baton Rouge is 4/5 of Daitro playing "a kind of indie - noise in the vein of Unwound /Television /Mission Of Burma / Sonic Youth mixed with some emo-rock ala Twelve Hour Turn / Tubers". 4 friends who grew up in the landscape of the Beaujolais vineyard close to Lyon France, between birds and grapes. They learned how to play together being inspired by Sonic Youth, Mudhonney, Nirvana or things like that. This is a new project in the vein of their first love, a kind of indie rock with power chords, arpeggios, clear voices, and tremelo. Same people, different way to play, different music with the feeling to discover everything, as the beginning of learning music even as they had been playing together for a long time. Everybody says that 30 years is a rebirth in people's life, for Baton Rouge, it's an extra time of their friendship, just good time spent together in playing old things, with a lot of common pleasant recollection. "Fragment deux meme" is an 8 piece record where all these influences are suggested closely or remotely connected, as if it was the natural following of their last ten years. |

| BOMB, THE | Speed is Everything (split-colored vinyl) LP/CD from No Idea Records - **On new LIMITED BLACK/WHITE split-colored vinyl! "Naked Raygun was a huge inspiration for me. Along with Fugazi and Leatherface, they helped create the bedrock that defines the "Gainesville sound". As much as I discredit the root idea that such a sound even exists or is quantifiable to such a finite point, I will at least concede that there are certain key influences for many a young (at heart) local miscreant. I digress. The fact that twenty-one years after NR played a legion hall in Gainesville, we are putting out a record that not only stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best NR album, but perhaps surpasses, well, this blows me away. I have a hard time finding words that express how much Pezzati's voice shakes me to the core. So I'll abandon words entirely and quote the man himself "Whoa Hey Ho". Yes. This record means that much. Crafting the music and bringing the workhorse/powerhouse ethic are Jeff Dean, Mike Soucy, and Pete Mittler, who have truly risen to the occasion. They have been in countless Chicago bands, and continue to split their time with several noteworthy, exceptional bands, including The Methadones and Four Star Alarm. Energy. Focus. Intensity. As if it could get any better, the album was recorded by J. Robbins, who also makes appearances on various songs. He really brought out the best in the band and songs, amplifying and directing, especially in the vocal harmonies and melodies. Pezzati turned in vocals on the last Paint It Black album, and Dan Yemin returns the favor here. Bob Nanna also lends his inimitable pipes to the mix." - -Var **LP includes download code! |

| BOMB, THE | The Challenger 11" from No Idea - Four new songs, plus four recorded live in the studio. Goddammit, it's 2011. If you don't care about Naked Raygun by now, there is no hope for you. I digress. The Bomb is pure electrifying Chicago punk rock at its absolute finest. Whoa-fucking-oh!! Four new songs + four recorded live in the studio, featuring a guest appearance by Vic Bondi (Articles of Faith) and J Robbins (Government Issue, Jawbox, Office of Future Plans, father of Cal, husband of Janet). We specifically made this an 11" record because people seem to hate 10" records. This record will not get lost amongst your 12" records, but will still bother you - yet, not so much that you will refuse to buy it. Includes download code! |

| BORN UGLYS | The Born Uglys 7" from Prank - THE BORN UGLYS is a new band from Greg Valencia, guitarist and sometimes vocalist in GRIMPLE,  ELDOPA1332 and WATCH THEM DIE and returns to the melodic roots of early 90's New Mexico hardcore like early GRIMPLE, the earliest, melodic LOGICAL NONSENSE recordings or the punkier moments of the classic  early 90's Lookout catalog like FILTH, CRIMPSHRINE or BLATZ. Jason Nipples From CROSS STITCHED EYES, THE ENEMYS, & ALARIC joins on drums and Dutch from Prank's wildest New Mexico export WORD SALAD joins on bass, so there's still an abrasive blasting hardcore edge and a searing solo or three. 4 tracks, including a cover of an unreleased LOGICAL NONSENSE track. | BRIDGE AND TUNNEL | East/West LP/CD from No Idea - Vinyl is back in stock! Okay, so you've got this badass record, recorded by a bunch of really nice people, each committed in their own way to underground networking, friendships, and speaking out against society's ills. Two ladies and two gentlemen. The main vocals alternate between Jeff and Rachel, with Tia chiming in and everyone stepping up in the choruses, weaving their voices throughout. The guitars interplay in exciting ways one exploring a tangent, the other grounding. They like burritos, coffee, bicycles, and good karma. Their songs are aggressive and loud with large amounts of reverb. Engaging, melodic, and soothing when they want to be, they ebb and flow, taking plenty of time to unfold. BRIDGE AND TUNNEL remind me of an aggressive CURSIVE or BRAID with the rhythmic backbone of HOT WATER MUSIC or FUGAZI and a swirl of later-era SMALL BROWN BIKE. There you go! | BRIDGE AND TUNNEL | Rebuilding Year LP/CD from No Idea - Gatefold LP, colored vinyl, includes download code! Sonically anchored by a guitar-driven melodicism reminiscent of later-era Small Brown Bike, Bridge and Tunnel harness the explosive, angular technique employed by luminaries like Fugazi and Cursive to convey a cutting sense of immediacy and intensity. Bookended by soaring atmospheric compositions, the roots of the album lie in a commanding mastery of complex rhythm and a precision born of both tireless effort and innate chemistry. Above it all, their voices weave together through a range of emotionally-laden tones as somber harmonies flip on a fill to a wrenching howl that echoes the desperation and defiance they’ve put to paper. Here's a really nice review, too: “Bridge and Tunnel pull risky maneuvers on their sophomore full-length. Opening with their longest song to date, ‘Synchronized Swimming’ (a nearly six-minute stunner that moves from haunting to beautiful in under 45 seconds), it’s an epic achievement that shows just how brilliant and passionate the New York act can be. From the aggressive prog-hardcore of ‘Outgrowing Pains’ to the emotive break in ‘Drill Instructor,’ the band continue to ply their trade via countless guitar pedals, mathy rhythms and intelligent metaphors detailing the panic involved in honest, urban living... this is the type of forward thinking that doesn’t turn up nearly often enough in punk.” - Brian Schultz, Alternative Press |

| BURNING LOVE | Black Widow EP 7" from High Anxiety / No Idea - Burning Love lets loose a taste of what's to come from them this year with the Black Widow EP, a precursor to their upcoming LP, Rotten Thing To Say. | BYRDS OF PARADISE | Teenage Symphonies LP from Don Giovanni - At once filthy, dreamy, druggily intoxicating and soberingly intense, Brooklyn-based Byrds of Paradise churn out slop pop tunes wearing garage/psych/punk clothing that are as sweetly sticky as they are layered, noisy and driven. The band, started by D.C. expatriate Kenny Brown in late 2009, is clearly informed by classic D.C. punk sonics, although not defined by them. That winter, Brown left D.C. to return to his New Jersey home and dedicate several weeks to recording a long- planned demo with his dear old friend and now singer Jared J Jones, ex-Dustheads). Brown then relocated to Brooklyn, where a full band came together with Alan Yuch (ex- Mongoloids) on drums and Brenden Britz (Subway Sadists, Whiteworks) playing bass. Byrds of Paradise released their debut “Rowena” 7” on Wild Words records, followed by their Don Giovanni Records debut, the “Omega Man” 7” and their most recent 7”, “Barefoot Paradise”, on UK label Sleep All Day Records. | BUY LP:$8.00 |

| CITY OF SHIPS | Minor World LP from Sound Study Recordings - The force that is City of Ships bring us their sophomore LP. The monstrous guitars and thundering rhythm section are still there but this time the band brings even more texture, even bigger atmospheres. Don't worry though, they will still rip your head off when they need to. These ten tracks shine through Andrew Schnieder's skillful production. | CLASSICS OF LOVE | Classics Of Love LP/CD from Asian Man - Classics of Love began in February of 2008 when Jesse Michaels, former lead singer of East Bay mainstays Operation Ivy, joined forces with San Jose's Hard Girls. Initially formed as a project to demo a few songs Michaels was working on, the members discovered that they had good musical compatibility and decided to form an ongoing band. After some early touring Classics offered up their first EP, 2009's Walking in Shadows which served up 6 songs of mid-tempo punk in the traditional East Bay vein: catchy, energetic and gritty. The following 2 years saw the band playing selective shows and slowly developing their sound. During this period, Classics incorporated other musical influences including a few ska and rock songs and most notably a barrage of up-tempo numbers heavily influenced by early 1980's Hardcore. 2011 saw the recording of their self titled full-length to be released on Asian Man Records in February of 2012. The record features a slew of high energy tracks which favors the band's neo-hardcore approach but also includes ska and punk songs as well as a few surprises. Recorded in a raw and unaffected style by local favorite Jack Shirley, Classics of Love's eponymous first record is bound to become a classic in its own right for all those who enjoy punk music which knows its history and looks forward at the same time. | COPYRIGHTS | North Sentinel Island LP from It's Alive - It's hard to believe it has been eight years since The Copyrights released their first album way back in 2003. Pop punk had long since burst onto the scene, into the big leagues and retreated back to the basements by then, leaving behind the last of the diehards. Among those diehards were The Copyrights. Still teenagers then, these guys took everything good about the old style and made it new again... and better than ever. They were among the first of a few young bands to really take pop punk, turn it on its end and redefine the genre. Eight years, a slew of singles and five full length albums later they are still at it. They continue to define and redefine the genre with each successive album. No two Copyrigths albums sound exactly the same, but they are all unmistakably Copyrights through and through. Bands like this make sticking to the music you love despite all of its lows worth it every day. North Sentinel Island is the best Copyrights album to date. But ask any Copyrights fan and they will have said the same about each new album when it came out. They aren't wrong - this band just gets better and better with each new record. | BUY LP:$10.00 |

| CREEPOID | Horse Heaven LP/CD from No Idea - "The Philadelphia quartet’s impressive debut transcends typical motifs—drifting verses cutting to skyrocketing refrains—and discovers true interplay... Lyrics broadly address addiction, innocence lost, ennui, depression, hope and love. It’s aggressive, introspective and a strong opening statement from an exciting band." - Magnet Magazine Philadelphia's CREEPOID mine the quiet side of breathy acoustic / slowcore, then erupt into heavy, hard hitting distortion, all within the course of their debut album "Horse Heaven," and sometimes within a single song. We reckon that CREEPOID have an appreciation for Nick Cave, Red House Painters, and Spain, as well as a compulsion for old records, analog recording gear, and late night hours spent in dank basements. Recommended for fans of Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Yo La Tengo, and My Bloody Valentine. **On LIMITED-TO-500 WHITE vinyl! **LP download code & CD include four bonus songs from their out-of-print first 7" |

| D. VASSALOTTI | Book of Ghosts LP from Vinyl Rites - David has been cutting his teeth for 10 years in various bands around the Tampa area. Most recently he's been half of MERCHANDISE and a quarter of NEON BLUD, before that he was one of the primary song writers in CULT RITUAL, and all this time he has had 5+ other projects on deck. Very rarely do we drop the ex-members card at VINYL RITES, but having that kind of musical pedigree is pretty unbeatable. His first solo LP is wildly different from the aforementioned groups, although it shares some of the bedroom sensibilities that MERCHANDISE espouses so well. Luckily for all of us, great song writing transcends genre and with BOOK OF GHOSTS he explores more of the Creation Records and 4AD back catalog. His musical hombre ZZ compares it to FELT and TRANS era NEIL YOUNG. It seamlessly goes from intensely personal singer-songwriter numbers to huge and lush shoe-gazing darkness, from NEW ORDER pop to THIS MORTAL COIL downers. Not only our favorite release on VINYL RITES yet, but it's also the most hauntingly beautiful recordings we've heard in years. | BUY LP:$9.00 |

Here's a nice review from Razorcake: Perhaps The Ergs! have sprinkled the fine state of New Jersey with magical pop punk dust, covering the impressionable youth with a love of Screeching Weasel and 1980s melodic punk melodies. Could it be? It is! Yay! Yummy pop punk without sounding like The Queers Beat Off (the mistake of ninety-six percent of post-1998 pop punk bands, according to my statistics). | GHOST MICE / SAW WHEEL | split LP/CD from No Idea - "Hello, I know what you're thinking, "I've seen this album before." But wait. It's new. Ghost Mice started back in December 2002 and our first tour ever was with SAW WHEEL. Then Lee started Hillbilly Stew records and released the GM/SW split as his first release. That was 2003. Five years later, we wanted to put it out on vinyl format, but we felt like we could do way better, so we re-recorded all of the songs. So it's like a new-used car, maybe. We play 100% acoustic. We never use amps or mics (except once at Plan-It-X fest and once in Austin, TX). We have been playing in bands together for about 7 years. We often play in back yards or on the street corner in front of the venue. We have toured the USA many times and we toured Europe by foot and in friend's cars. We sing a mix of personal and political songs. We are dedicated to the DIY ethic and the struggle to make the world a better place. We play music and travel for fun and to meet new people. We are nice and a little shy. Please feel free to get in touch with us about anything." - Chris (Ghost Mice / Plan-It-X Records) Recorded by Rob McGregor in Gainesville, Nov. '07 ? First pressing of 500 on colored vinyl! ? CD includes one extra Saw Wheel song! GHOST MICE is: HANNAH - Vocals, Violin CHRIS - Vocals, Guitar (also featured on this recording: Paul Baribeau - guest vocals, Lily - cello, Izzy (Jammy Dodgers) - vocals) Saw Wheel is an alt-country/acoustic-punk band which comes from a small town in Mississippi and now resides in Austin, Texas. They play wonderful music on traditional instruments and have a great folky sound with gravelly vocals layered over top. The singer/songwriter, Ronnie Joe, also played in a great band called One Reason. This is campfire music sung from the heart. The stripped down, serene acoustic sound of Saw Wheel reminds us of the picking and twanging of other contemporary acts like Rumbleseat, Lucero, Whiskey & Co. and the late great Uncle Tupelo. SAW WHEEL is: RJ CRESWELL: Vocals, Guitar, Banjo, Violin JUSTIN SMITH: Guitar, Vocals, Bass, Mandolin, Banjo, Violin, Drums |

| GOD EQUALS GENOCIDE | Rattled Minds LP from Razorcake Records - "We released the first God Equals Genocide 7”, This World Is Wearing Me Down, in 2007. It was a decision that I gave a lot of thought. Daryl, the bassist for GEG, works at Razorcake. He’s since become a director. From several steps away, it reeked of nepotism. From up close, it’s pure awesome. Fuckit; I really like GEG. They’re one of my favorite bands. They’re local. I know their ethics and practices match up with mine and with Razorcake’s. Why be a dick and not release their debut, the Life of Doubt 7”, a split 7” with Shang-a-Lang, then the It Wasn’t Made for Us 7”? Why not release their debut full-length LP, Rattled Minds, and do something stupid/genius with the vinyl version? Rattled Minds sounds like worlds falling apart, while worlds are being created. Sort of like life. Imperfect, beautiful, disappointing, fractured, irreducible, wonderful life. They’re a punk band. With melody. With shambolic, effervescent spirit. LP includes a bonus EP from their alterego group, Dumbag Daryl & the GEG Bags. –Todd Taylor" | BUY LP:$9.00 |

Intricate and direct, raucous and thoughtful, noodley and restrained. This record puts me in a good mood. Some days it's all I need to get through. Do you like Paul Baribeau, The Weakerthans, and Bridge And Tunnel? I think that would be a great show. Let's set it up!" - Var. GOOD LUCK are friends who knew each other from playing in past musical projects like MATTY POP CHART, ONE REASON, ABE FROMAN, and MT. GIGANTIC. They used to live in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Michigan before something drew them all to Bloomington. |

| GOOD LUCK | Without Hesitation LP/CD from No Idea - Good Luck is, without hesitation, the most positive group of people in one band possible. This exuberant wellspring is tapped on each and every song, even the heartfelt and downtrodden ones. In any other hands, the noodling would be too noodley. The sugar would be too delicious. Somehow the intricacy and curious time signatures melt away, taking a back seat to the overtly catchy and triumphant choruses. Charmingly humble and possessing a wickedly sharp wit, these songs are as fine as they come. This band deserves to be massive, thought they would probably be just as happy opening for Ted Leo on a world tour. |

| HAWKS AND DOVES | Year One LP/CD from No Idea - ** SECOND PRESSING: 200 Gold, 300 Black ** Gared had a very crappy year. Essentially, his band broke up, and life dumped him. Bummer! Apparently, all that misery combined with anxiety attacks and excessive drinking make you want to escape your nightmarish existence, so Gared came to Gainesville to "record his solo album". While he was here, he was befriended/rescued by none other than guitar/bass maestro Chad "Malibu" Darby. Along the way, George "Rebel with an O" Rebelo inadvertently got roped into helping write keyboard parts (awesome chimes, man!) and a wee bit of drumming while he was at it. Other supporting players include the illustrious Jon Gaunt, Matt Radick, and Chris Wollard. The resulting album is as bleak as it is depressing. It also features the most blatant Motown/Afghan Whigs bites of Gared's fabulous musical career. To say that there are pop nuggets lurking within this seething document of a life collapsing on itself is an understatement. This is Mr. O'Donnell at his most honest and transparent. Despite it all, "Year One" is a cathartic and genuinely uplifting experience. For real! P.S. - Along the way, Gared fell in love with a beautiful woman and they are getting married soon. (We expect his next record to be a bit of a departure.) Includes download code! |

| HEX DISPENSERS | Razorcake Sister Series 7" from Razorcake Records - The Hex Dispensers may be obsessed with the dark shadows of the underworld, but they're far from trapped by these interests. Their lyrics speak truths on the most relatable levels, and, at times, are not restricted by reality. While their music sears out of your speakers like an egg cracked onto a Texan sidewalk in the middle of summer, the sizzling and eventual burning is transformed into hauntingly beautiful male and female harmonies. | HIGH DIVE | High Dive LP/CD from No Idea - **On your choice of PINK or BLACK vinyl! HIGH DIVE is the new three-piece Queer punk band from Ryan Woods of Defiance, Ohio. "I first saw Toby play solo songs August of 2009. I was touring a lot at the time with Defiance, Ohio and we were seeing a lot of solo guitar players, but there was sincerity to his music that we were all really attracted to. It wasn’t long before we were spending most of our time together and he became a regular guest on Defiance, Ohio tours. Toby moved to Bloomington from Chicago. For years, Theo Hilton (Defiance, Ohio + Nana Grizol) and I had found it difficult to talk about the issues of being queer in our songs. It was something that was really important to us. Toby seemed to have a real strength for expressing his feelings on those topics and along with our friend, Clyde Petersen (Your Heart Breaks) we all found a greater voice for speaking about our experiences being queer. That relationship lead to some small tours and a 4-way split release LP on Talking Helps Records from Seattle. It included new and previously released solo songs by Toby, Clyde and Theo along with Defiance, Ohio and Nana Grizol songs we felt to be relevant. It also included two songs from a band Toby and I had started not long before called High Dive. We were really excited by the energy of some of our good friends three piece pop-punk bands like Songs for Moms, The Max Levine Ensemble, Delay and Vacation. We had known Nick Romy for years and as soon as we played the few songs we had already written, it seemed to click into place. Nick is the kind of person who can play almost any instrument, is always in about a half-dozen bands at any given time and was one of our best friends. Around the time we started the band, Toby and I also opened a restaurant (which Nick works at: www.theowleryrestaurant.com) so we all found ourselves quite busy. Our history so far has been that of mostly a lot of time in Nick’s basement working on these songs, lots of local shows and a very short tour with Songs for Moms. We are very excited to release this LP and take some time away from our day to day to travel and get to play these songs for old friends and new folks we will meet along the way." -- Ryan Woods |

| HIS HERO IS GONE | 15 Counts of Arson LP/CD from Prank - Back in stock! Originally released in 1996, Memphis, Tennessee's HIS HERO IS GONE'S "15 COUNTS OF ARSON" simultaneously was a genre defying and genre defining classic, combining elements of 90's chaotic emotional thrash, early 80's hardcore, low end down- tuned drudge and power violence stop -start hardcore. Recorded by Dan Rathbun in Oakland, CA at Polymorph and mastered by George Horn, 15 tracks of agitated immensity delivered at explosive velocity, with powerful lyrics fueling volatile chunks of thrash fused with metallic influences in an expansively loud combination of distortion, feedback and noise. Destructo-core with everything amplified into the red. Members have since played in TRAGEDY, DRAIN THE SKY, DEATHREAT, CALL THE POLICE, DIMLAIA, FUNERAL, WARCRY, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE, CRIMINAL DAMAGE, TRAUMA. Includes lyric poster insert. |

Not compromising their intensity, 15 tracks recorded with Dan Rathbun at Polymorph Studios and mastered by George Horn, "Monuments To Thieves" represented some of the band's most powerful lyrical moments and was the first recording with second guitarrist Yannick Lorrain from UNION OF URANUS, written and rehearsed while the band relentlessly criss-crossed the US, Europe and Japan. | LIFETIME | Lifetime LP from No Idea - When word came that LIFETIME had reformed and was recording a new album, long time fans were ecstatic, as were tons of kids who had discovered the band AFTER they called it a day. This self-titled album came out in 2007. It had a super limited vinyl run that was gone before it appeared, wham bam! The idea of bringing the vinyl out on No Idea was hatched during a late night (okay, mid-afternoon) brainstorming session with a mysterious shadowy figure (okay, Dan Yemin), in which minds were twisted, arms were wrestled, and ultimately a wave of positivity flooded the room (okay, internet) and a vision of happiness came into bloom (okay, I had a big ole smile). We bottled and released this happiness into the offices of FBR and they were swept up in the euphoria too (okay, it was a few emails and they were cool with it). THE POINT IS: We are happy as pie to press this here LP for you and yours. Yeah! Whoo! |

| LITTLE CUTS | Plastic Disaster 7" from Dirtnap - Dave Hernandez of legendary garage punk band Scared of Chaka, formed Little Cuts in Seattle during a break from touring duties with indie rockers The Shins in '08. His years with The Shins (a band of whom he'd been friends with the leader of, James Mercer, since Scared of Chaka was touring the world in the mid 90s) left him anxious for a return to the louder and more chaotic leanings of his earlier bands. Andrew Church (Ballard master rock musician, genius go-to guy, fixer, bartender extraordinaire, all around gentleman, and Godfather to Hernandez's firstborn) was the obvious choice for wingman in the group. Having previously played and recorded with Hernandez in power rock outfit Broadcast Oblivion (featuring murder city devils/big business/melvins drummer Coady Willis) he filled bass duties handily when not working with his other great band The Cops. Curtis James of Old Haunts had met Hernandez mid tour in the early 90s when he'd drummed for Olympia band Excuse 17, and it was total random coincidence that had him tattooing at a shop next door to Hazelwood, Church's bar in Seattle. He completed the three piece, and they set about recording a handful of CDRs that were passed around town, and played a handful of shows as well as releasing a single for Bag of Hammers. Inevitably, the pull of other bands, family, and a bad case o' the "grumps" prevented this lineup from touring extensively. This release holds their last recorded work before Curtis James returned to Olympia and left the band. Lars Finberg of The Intelligence recorded this in the fall of 2010 and a year later its finally seeing release thanks to Ken at Dirtnap Records. The current lineup includes David Weeks from The Cops on drums. |

| MANIX, THE | Neighborhood Wildlife LP/CD from It's Alive - **OUT IN LATE DEC./EARLY JAN.! Enough is enough. Minneapolis punk bands seriously need to take a year or two off and let the rest of the country catch up with their awesomeness. It really is getting ridiculous how many incredible bands call that city home. Being the land of a thousands lakes, I gotta believe it is something in the goddamn water. Sure, many of the bands coming out of MPLS have similar sounding styles, but why is that a bad thing if their styles of choice kick my ass every time? The Manix are the latest musical champions from this magical land to have graced It's Alive Records with the privilege to release a record of theirs. Their debut album Neighborhood Wildlife is packed with a dozen jams that absolutely kill it with every listen! The songs showcase a great mix of the shoutalong go-for-broke anthems super-prevalent in the basement scene of today's midwest and the ultra catchy head-bopping melodies that are the core of all pop punk past and present. The lyrics are smart, thoughtful and heartfelt without any hints of trying too hard to be anything they aren't. The album was mixed at mastered by Jacques Wait - the man behind the boards for many an album from other MPLS locals such as Off With Their Heads, The Soviettes, Dear Landlord, Banner Pilot and The Gateway District - so you know this shit sounds tight! Frontdude Corey Ayd spends his time away from The Manix as a member of the professional punk rock group Banner Pilot, so there's a whole wealth of incredible music to feed off of right there. Drummer Mike Cranberry also plays in Nato Cole's latest rock group The Blue Diamond Band and is the sweetest dude on planet earth. Second vocalist and guitarist Steve used to be in The Turkletons, so that's pretty much gonna sell a thousand copies of this album right there. Tyler was something like 12 years old when he played on this album, but left the band to pursue a high school education or something like that. Joe, formerly of Amen And The Hell Yeahs has replaced him and totally upped The Manix drunx punx points. How these kids in their early 20's come off sounding like the new reigning champs of punk rock I have no idea, but they do... It's gotta be the fucking water! **MEMBERS OF BANNER PILOT & THE BLUE DIAMOND BAND |

| MAUSER | Isolation 12" from Vinyl Rites - Massive speed fueled punk madness from Gainesville, FL! Influenced by Japanese killers FRAMTID, Mauser is drum-focused and driving, with simple and brutal punk riffs covered in distortion. On their first ep, END OF THE LINE, they played a couple mid-tempo rockers, but this is mostly straight forward hardcore punk noise! They set themselves aside from most of the crappy noise punk coming out of the US by actually being able to write great songs and having an incredibly clear, powerful and harsh recording. | BUY 12":$9.00 |

| MEAN JEANS | Are You Serious LP/CD from Dirtnap - THE MEAN JEANS are the kids that live down the street that blare the Ramones and the Angry Samoans late at night while they are playing "Edward 40s Hands". They have 3 things in their refrigerator: ketchup, beer and slime. THE MEAN JEANS were born when, at the ripe ages of 23 and 24, Jeans Wilder (skins, vox and smokes) and Billy Jeans (vox, riffs and spliffs) started playing their parent's DC-area basements in the winter of 2006. They grew another member, Howie Doodat (AKA Jean Jeans on the bass guitar), after moving to Portland, OR a year later. The 13 garage pop tunes of Are You Serious harkens back to the Lookout! Records of the early ‘90s, when pop-punk meant snotty low-brow 3 chord goodness and not glossy soundtracks to mall strolls. Like any good Cretin’s soundtrack, the "songs about partying" vs. "songs about girls" ratio leans fully toward PBR fueled pogo punk. Pitchfork already said THE MEAN JEANS "comes over like the Ramones mixed with a pinch of Joan Jett’s classic "Bad Reputation" and makes you want to slam dance with its guitar riffs and rollicking drumbeats." | MEAN JEANS | On Mars LP/CD from Dirtnap Records - Portland's premier party punks The Mean Jeans return with their long-awaited follow up to 2009's Are You Serious! This is a different album, though, more mid-tempo catchier, and poppier (but less "pop punk" if you know what we mean) than their debut. In addition to the standard 3 piece instrumentation, Mean Jeans On Mars also features, at various times, acoustic guitar (!), keyboards (!), drum machines (!), empty Jaeger bottles (!) and boxes of macaroni (!) played as extra percussion. Oh and it also features the debut of new member Jr. Jeans on bass! (Howie Doodat is busy tearing up Portland in the Suicide Notes!) This is a fantastic, exhilarating summertime pop album, so down a couple of jaegy bombs and get ready to moonwalk into the unknown with the Mean Jeans! |

| MIND SPIDERS | Meltdown LP/CD from Dirtnap - 2nd album from Mark Ryan's (Marked Men, High Tension Wires)Mind Spiders, and it's a Meltdown, alright. This is a very different beast from the s/t Mind Spiders LP released just 13 months ago. The most obvious difference is that while the s/t LP was recorded piecemeal, with Mark more-or-less playing all the instruments, Meltdown is the first Mind Spiders recordings to feature the full live band. And what a band it is: members of The Bad Sports, High Tension Wires, Marked Men, Uptown Bums, etc etc. The fact that there are 2 drummers (Mike from the Marked Men AND Greg from The High Tension Wires both play drums at the same time)gives alot of these songs a rhythmic complexity that sets the songs apart from a lot of other "garagey" type bands. Loosely organized like the first LP, with the more straightforward, rocking stuff on side A and the weird curveball stuff on side B, Meltdown, while remarkably cohesive, blends a lot of different elements: Great sounding guitar tones. Happy, warm organ. Mean, buzzing synth. 60's pop sensibilities. Snotty garage rockers. Dark, brooding postpunk. Weirdo sci-fi soundtrack stuff. Nods to Krautrock. Oh, and did we mention there are 2 drummers? Meltdown is definitely one of the high points in the Dirtnap catalog, and given our history with Mark Ryan, that is saying alot. By our count, this is the 11th record we've released with him on it (1 Mind Spiders 7" and 2 LPs, 3 High Tension Wires LPs, 4 Marked Men LPs and 1 7"), I guess you could say we are a fan. |

| MIND SPIDERS | The Mind Spiders LP from Dirtnap - Solo pop explorations from Mark Ryan of the Marked Men! (yes, we used the same tag-line for the 7", but it was too appropriate not to recycle!) Around the time Denton, TX legends Marked Men were entering into their current state of semi- hibernation, co- singer/songwriter/ guitarist Mark Ryan decided he wanted to go in a slightly different direction for his next project, with recordings handled mostly by himself, and a fluid lineup of musicians to back him live. After an extremely well received 7" on Dirtnap (released before the live version of the band had played a single show), Mind Spiders follow it up with a full length that doesn't begin to disappoint. Intelligent, highly crafted songwriting with lots of twists and turns, meticulously recorded at home with Mark himself playing most of the instruments. Pop with brains and substance, catchy stuff that isn't afraid to spread out a bit and reflect a wide range of influences and interests. A little 60's pop here, a little lo-fi there, a little weirdo-in-his- bedroom-with-a-4-track in other places. And if the opening song, Go!, sounds a bit like the Marked Men, that's because that band recorded a version of it for their last LP, which was left off at the last minute. The live version of Mind Spiders is a different beast entirely. It's a regular Denton/Ft. Worth all star band, with members of Bad Sports, High Tension Wires, Uptown Bums, Marked Men and a lot more, made unique in the fact that there are TWO drummers (Greg Rutherford of Bad Sports/High Tension Wires and Mike Throneberry of the Marked Men), lending a rather explosive element to the proceedings. January 2011's release of The Mind Spiders debut LP marks the beginning of yet another year of fruitful collaboration between Dirtnap Records and the seemingly never ending stream of bands from the great state (republic?) of Texas. February will see the release of the 3rd LP from longtime Marked Men/Reds/Riverboat Gamblers side project The High Tension Wires. March will see the Dirtnap debut from Denton/Austin's The Bad Sports, 2/3rds of whom also play in both The High Tension Wires and the live version of The Mind Spiders. Houston's Something Fierce just wrapped up recording a monster of a 3rd LP, which we'll be releasing in April. All these bands and more will be playing Dirtnap Records' SXSW Showcase in March, come check it out! | BUY LP:$10.00 |

| NEW BRUISES | Chock Full Of Misery LP/CD from Kiss Of Death/No Idea - **THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! IT WILL BE OUT JUNE 5th. If you'd like to get other records too, please make sure to place a SEPARATE ORDER for New Bruises - otherwise your entire order will wait to ship. THANKS!!** Chock Full of Misery, the long-awaited and long-postponed new record from Tampa's New Bruises, is a masterclass in punk rock maturation. From time spent in the '90s punk trenches of the northeast to their eventual migration to the more hospitable climate of the Gulf Coast of Florida, the band would be considered elder statesmen if it weren't for the fact that they're staying up later than you folding records then up hours before your alarm drinking all the coffee in your house. It's been almost six years since the release of Transmit! Transmit!, New Bruises' debut, in 2006. That's a long time for any band, let alone one in a scene with the turnover of contemporary punk. But for New Bruises, it's been time well spent, from recording a series of their own split releases and singles to releasing albums by bands like VRGNS, No Friends, and Bomb the Music Industry! through vocalist and guitarist Bryon Lippincott's record label, Kiss of Death. The life expectancy of an idealistic DIY punk band isn't too great these days, but New Bruises are coming into the release of Chock Full of Misery with even more fire in their collective belly than when they started, and a fantastically diverse record to back it up. While still rooted in the anthemic pop-punk of their '90s roots, New Bruises have cracked their sound wide open on Chock Full of Misery, picking apart each song and putting it back together one piece at a time. The result is a record that hits harder while experimenting with greater dynamics and sonic left turns, keeping the full-steam-ahead feel of early Jawbreaker while infusing it with the nuance of Tim-era Replacements. It's sort of the band's Dear You, but without all the smooth vocals and kids slashing their tires. There's spacious slow-burners like “Five Questions” alongside catchy barn-storming jams like “One for the Looper,” a track-by-track lesson in keeping your sound eclectic while maintaining a darkly distinct tone throughout. They might make claims to being a part time band full of grown-ups with real jobs, but New Bruises spent almost two months on the road last year, and are looking to pile in the van again to spread the gospel of Chock Full of Misery. This won't be a naive and wet-behind-the-ears batch of fresh-faced punks showing up to play your house show and moving on to play bigger and better avenues inside of a year. It will be a band that's been all over North America and Europe, seen the dives and seen the basements, and come back for more. It will be a band that believes in something, not because they don't know any better, but because they've seen it all, and there's no place they'd rather be. |

| NIGHT BIRDS | Night Birds 7" from Dirtnap/Grave Mistake - Back in stock! Dirtnap is psyched to announce the release the 2nd 7" (following hot on the heels of their debut on Art Of The Underground) from New Jersey’s own Night Birds. Night Birds’ lineup will look familiar to fans of Dirtnap and awesome music in general, being composed of members of The Ergs, Psyched To Die, Hunchback, and many more. Musically, though, it’s probably not what you think, (it’s better) given the ex members list. Think speedy, catchy stuff that blurs the lines of punk and very early So Cal hardcore, with lots of surf/spy guitar thrown on top! Adolescents meets Dead Kennedys? 5 songs that go by quick, including what I think is the first instrumental on a Dirtnap release, although at this point it’s starting to get real hard to keep track of that shit. At the band’s request, there is no color vinyl on this release, but the first 500 will come in stamped sleeves. All copies come with sticker and download coupon. | BUY 7":$3.75 |

| NOUN | Holy Hell LP/CD from Don Giovanni - Now available on vinyl! With the band Screaming Females, Marissa Paternoster has been known to shred until her fingers bleed. But with her 5-year-old low- profile solo project Noun, Marissa dedicates less time to shrieking and soloing, and more to intricate studio work and lower-key instrumentation. Holy Hell, the first official Noun release, incorporates keys, organs, and toned-down guitars and drums. The result is clearly different than Screaming Females: it’s mellower, more melodic, and whereas the Screaming Females’ songwriting process is a three-way discussion, Marissa writes all of the songs for Noun. Holy Hell features drum work by Angela Boylan (of Cheeky), Miranda Taylor (Hunchback, Black Wine, Full of Fancy), and Jarrett Dougherty (Screaming Females), plus bass lines by King Mike (Screaming Females). |

| OFF WITH THEIR HEADS | From the Bottom LP/CD from No Idea - **Back in stock on LP! In a world where everything is falling apart, it's nice to know someone is worse off than yourself. Ha ha, okay, so I kid. But this guy Ryan must be driving himself crazy, what with all the dire hopelessness and impossibility wrapped up in his lyrics. One can only hope that this is his way of dealing with all the crap humanity sends his way. Or is he a magnet for misfortune? Combine this direct, desperate outlook with upbeat, forward- moving punk rock, and what do you have? A strangely uplifting, energetic rallying cry that - far from bogging down the listener- inspires one to get up off their ass and do something. When I need a pick me up, this is it. When I need to knuckle down & get 'er done, this is it. For you, maybe you need to kick a bad habit: this may not be for you. Or maybe... it's just what you need. | SCREAMING FEMALES | Ugly 2xLP/CD from Don Giovanni - Screaming Females' seven years as a band, four full-length albums and 700 globe-spanning live shows has made them difficult to miss. Through it all, the New Brunswick, New Jersey trio have continued to exude a frenetic energy which is built upon the zeitgeist of America's punk and indie underground yet has always remained forward-looking. Fittingly, for Screaming Females' 5th album Ugly, the band enlisted legendary recording engineer Steve Albini, famed for his unique ability to capture the ferociousness of a live performance while delivering gorgeous sonic clarity. The album's 14 tracks reaffirm the touchstones of the band; they can still shred and front-woman Marissa Paternoster can still unleash a powerful howl. But it doesn't end there. The album ushers in new explorations for the band, a truly remarkable feat considering their already prolific output. Ugly has the perfect combination of raw energy and honed musicianship that produces the type of rock & roll which is still a force to be reckoned with. |

| SHORES | Coup de Grace LP/CD from No Idea - The roots of Michigan's SHORES tap the wellspring of RED HOUSE PAINTERS, BEDHEAD, THE NEW YEAR, CODEINE, LOW, SPAIN, SEAM, and SLOWDIVE. The first haunting note of "Coup de Grace" rings out, clear and clean, followed in time by another drenched in natural reverb, the living sound of a dark, wooden room. Not a cathedral, not a church, but a place of warmth and comfort nonetheless. The patient crescendo builds, the percussion kicks in, rocketing the dynamics into full play. Clean guitars, loud drums, clear vocals. Purposeful over casual, downbeat yet forward moving. Dark, not depressing. A rainy day, a late night adventure. -Var. |

Unbeknownst to anyone involved, the members of Twelve Hour Turn walked up at the same point that Shores kicked into a cover of their song, "Little One". Curiously, Brian (NEVER a member of North Lincoln) was borrowing Rich's guitar amp. Weird. Unfortunately Kurt Cobain did not also appear, although it was Halloween at the time. | SIDEKICKS | Awkward Breeds LP from Really Records - On BLACK or GOLD vinyl! The Sidekicks 3rd full-length proves that this Ohio four-piece just keeps getting better. Guitar riffs that'll split yr skull only to lodge in melodies that'll be stuck there forever. Yeah, it's VERY good. Here's a nice review from Alternative Press: Cleveland’s Sidekicks have been one of Midwestern punk’s best-kept secrets for the past half-decade, but all that should change with the release of Awkward Breeds. The quartet have dropped any remaining gruff pop-punk influence and instead have embraced their amped-up Americana sound, which falls somewhere between the Gaslight Anthem (“The 9th Piece”) and David Bazan (“Baby, Baby”). Truly beautiful falsetto vocals from frontman Steve Ciolek and pitch-perfect harmonies from guitarist/vocalist Matt Scheuermann are welcome accents to these songs; each element contributes a sense of melancholy and wistfulness that many established bands struggle to include. The Sidekicks really succeed, though, when they play with dynamics and slow the tempos down; “The Whale And Jonah,” with its deliberate pacing and expert crescendos, is one of the most well-written rock songs we’ve heard in years. - Scott Heisel | BUY LP:$10.00 |

| SLICES | Still Cruising LP from Iron Lung Records - Yet another Pittsburgh rock recipe has us scratching our heads and breaking our teeth. There is no way to describe this nasty little platter without avoiding the pure rock 'n' roll undercurrent that SLICES has newly adopted. It should be no surprise considering the ROT SHIT connection but there are a lot of other tastes at work here. Much like the appetizer plate "Cruising", there is a dash of hardcore, a sprig of noise-rock, two dabs of smelling soundscape and a healthy dollop of anxious animosity. But they've kicked it up a couple notches and stripped away all the fat. What we are left with is a lean, mean-mashed killer of an album. And mustard can still go fuck itself. | BUY LP:$10.50 |

Two powerful songs - "Shanguri-La" and " Like Water" that take elements of the intense hardcore sounds of each of their classic Japanese and American hardcore bands, but combined to a new and unique whole. Created with intense focus and effort, this recalls many of the classic definitive HG FACT two track EP's that defined the Tokyo punk sound of the late 90's and early 00's, but also has the unmistakable mark of Texas Powerhouse hardcore. Initially recorded and mixed at Toyko's OUR HOUSE studio, with guest vocals by JACK CONTROL (WORLD BURNS TO DEATH). Split release with HG FACT. | BUY 7":$5.00 |

| SONIC AVENUES | Television Youth LP/CD from Dirtnap - SONIC AVENUES are just four Montreal kids who started riffing punk tunes in 2006, but since getting swept up in the booming punk epicentre of neighbouring Ottawa, they've been catapulted into the ranks of the best pop-punk acts in Canada! After releasing a few singles, SA dropped a bomb in late 2009 with their debut LP on Ottawa's infamous Going Gaga Records. Within a few short months, the record had sold-out twice, including a European repress by Germany's fine Taken By Surprise and Sabotage Records. Two years later, after obliterating eardrums from stages across North America and Europe, they returned home to record a crushing follow-up, TELEVISION YOUTH, for Portland-based label DIRTNAP RECORDS. Featuring more of the over-driven guitars, infectious harmonized melodies and blazing 2-3 minute songs that powered their debut, SA have nonetheless pushed the limits into new territories with this latest offering. In short, Television Youth is punkier, poppier, louder and dirtier than anything they've done before. Armed with this devastating new arsenal, as well as ambitious touring plans spanning the (un)civilized world, SONIC AVENUES are sure to keep fists in the air and beers a-flyin' for years to come. |

| SOVIETTES | II LP from Kiss Of Death - Originally released in 2004 on Adeline Records, The Soviettes have remastered their classic LP II and Kiss of Death is proud to be re-releasing the vinyl for it. LP II is a blast of energetic, classic sounding (mostly) female fronted pop punk. There is a super authentic 80's vibe to this record with both the production and song writing calling to mind aspects of Blondie and the Go Go's. However, the band isn't always tearing at break neck speeds, they slow it down on a couple of more melancholy and rocking tracks like "Tonight" and "Whatever You Want." Absolutely Crucial Record! |

| THE COUGS | The Cougs 7" from Bakery Outlet - The Cougs' original bass master PJ Superfamicon once sang: "A hero lies in you. And he's really weird, man. But I don't mind a bit." He's probably right if you think he's crooning to you, but when I listen I imagine it to be self-reference. This is how I see The Cougs. An unlikely 3 pack of screwballs doing their own thing in St. Augustine that could and should appeal to the intelligent yet casual diy rock'n'rollers. They keep it deceptively simple, but especially in their latest effort-this here described 7", the licks and the song structure and the words and the melodies are most scrutinized by head Coug Andrew Virga. I remember a recount of their last practice as they were about to head on a tour which would lead them to record with Mike Pack. Virga spoke with excitement about the progression of songwriting and execution the band had reached. That's it for me. I love a lot of bands; I love them even more when I see they are always looking to move forward. Thank someone that they moved in a great direction since I signed on for this before I heard the songs-4 lengthier songs packed onto a 7" with less initial impact but the swelling anticipation and release created in each song is a fine trade for that. Post 7" the band has a new basser - 'St. Augustine's finest' Jacob Hamilton. I miss PJ in the mix, but this can only bring a different kind of weird to the band now. | BUY 7":$4.50 |

| TREASURE FLEET | Cocamotion LP from Recess Records - **On RED vinyl! Includes download code! In summer 2007, just on the heels of recording “Marvels of Industry” with his band the Arrivals, Isaac Thotz went on a month long binge of drink and drugs and 1960’s psychedelic rock that ended with a self-recorded twelve song demo of acoustic psychedelic pop songs, a collection sounding like Syd Barrett outtakes. At the end of the month, the Arrivals went on tour with Underground Railroad to Candyland, where Isaac showed his recordings to Todd Congelliere (of URTC and owner of Recess Records) and by the end of that week, on a rooftop party at a tenement in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, they’d resolved to start their new mod-psych band. Isaac joined a project Todd C. had been doing with the members of the Dios Malos in L.A., under the name Bible Children. They did a handful of shows around L.A. and Chicago, recorded a demo, and broke up in 2009 under the stress of long distance. In summer 2010, Thotz restarted the effort with friends and local Chicago musicians Neil Hennessy (of the Lawrence Arms) on bass, Dave Merriman (of the Arrivals) on keys, Mike Oberlin (of Sass Dragons) on drums, and Eli Caterer (of Smoking Popes) on lead guitar. Now called Treasure Fleet, the band went into Atlas Studios in Chicago in March 2011, intending to re-record a couple of of those early demos, maybe to self-release a seven inch. They ended up spending five days at Atlas and recording an eleven song mod-rock epic. With no plans for a proper release and busy summer schedules with their other bands, that record sat on the shelf, half-mixed and un-released. Despite the unfinished Atlas recordings, in December 2011, Treasure Fleet decided to self-record yet another album; which they did, in part at the loft and show-space where drummer Mike Oberlin lived, Lucky Gator, and in part at Isaac Thotz’s apartment and attic. This new record is: “Cocamotion.” “Cocamotion”, Treasure Fleet’s debut release, is a melange of mod and psych inspired indie rock. Moving from the surfy “Coca Mama”, a tweaked-out Santo & Johnny semi-instrumental, to the new wave electro-punk “Vice”, from the the quirky Who-rock of “Black Rag”, to the Kink-ish camp of “Proud Mary”, the Morricone meets Clash “Ghost Town”, to the Pink Floyd tinged “Trapeze Artist” and “High On a Bicycle”, “Cocamotion” is a psychpop acid trip though the history of rock n’ roll. If MGMT had come of age with the hard rocking Who or Nirvana rather than arty Brian Eno, “Congratulations” would have been Treasure Fleet’s “Cocamotion”. And with bands like Underground Railroad to Candyland, Lenguas Largas, Pangea, this new psych sound is punk’s weird, dirty, drugged-out answer to the folk-punk that’s dominated the scene for the last decade. | BUY LP:$10.00 |
| TRUE RADICAL MIRACLE | Termites LP from Iron Lung Records - The current Australian underground music scene is quickly becoming something we will be talking about worldwide in the same way that "80's US hardcore" or "West Coast Power Violence" are now. There are so many awesome bands and we have had the great fortune to be a part of releasing some of them to the world. TRM offers their second LP of jagged sunburnt noise rock in the fashion of these modern times of struggle and woe. This will not cheer you up. This may drive you further into oblivion. | VANNA INGET | Allvar LP from 1-2-3-4-Go! - Another in the long line of great Swedish punk bands coming out now! Melodic, urgent and at times meloncholic. Singer Karolina has a intense, crystal clear voice that coupled with the rest of the band recall's elements of early California punk like the Avengers and more modern counterparts like Vicious, Masshysteri, Terrible Feelings or the Bombettes. Very limited US pressing of the album in anticipation of the band touring here in 2012. Only a few hundred copies are available in the US. Released in cooperation with P. Trash Records, Punks Only and 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. | BUY LP:$10.00 |
| WALLS | The Future Is Wide Open LP from Iron Lung Records - The paranoia and unease of one man is hard to measure physically. WALLS has done this sonically so that the more timid people out there don't have to get their hands quite so dirty. They will still have to do the work though. There is always the work.'The Future Is Wide Open' is a sarcastic bite out of society's apple. And what a rotten apple indeed. Bursting with angst and tension, this album is a relentless hardcore punk/noise rock demon-sound. There is no release from the future. The gates are shut. | BUY LP:$10.50 |

| WHITE WIRES | WWII LP/CD from Dirtnap - "Ottawa, Ontario is exploding with good bands, easily one of our favorite musical hotbeds in North America at the moment, and we here at Dirtnap knew we had to get in on the action, before the action got in on us. (whatever the hell THAT means) What better way to start than with THE WHITE WIRES WWII, a sun- soaked Garage-Pop gem that will satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Simple, spare, haunting, instantly memorable pop songs that’ll leave you glad to be alive. When White Wires released their debut LP on singer/guitarist Ian Manhire’s Going Gaga (VERY quickly becoming one of our favorite record labels on the planet) Records in 2009, EVERYONE we played it for here in Portland completely flipped out, and we were quickly pestering the band to let us reissue it. Alas, Douchemaster Records beat us to the punch on THAT one, but here we’ve been given a 2nd crack at ‘em. Ian from White Wires refers to WWII as the band’s “Dirtnap” album, in that it’s a little more (for lack of a better term) “punk” and a little less (for lack of a better term) “garage” than their debut. The tones are a little brighter, the tempos a little faster, the songs a little (if this is possible) catchier than WWI." - Ken/Dirtnap |

| WORRIERS | Past Lives 7" from No Idea - Folks from The Measure [sa], Night Birds, & Hunchback. Three songs; includes a download code! Here's a nice review! "First off, three-song EPs are the best. Quick, easy, and in the case of New Jersey’s Worriers, totally enjoyable. Featuring members of Night Birds and the Measure [SA], Worriers tread the lighter side of the punk path, with pop hooks and sing-along choruses. Fans of both Night Birds’ raw garage punk/hardcore and the Measure [SA]’s speedier, gruffer punk will find even more melody to latch onto, but without as much immediate punch. Instead, we get a slow burn that sounds inspired by folk-punkers the Weakerthans (fittingly, one song is called “Deconstruction Site”) with sweet female vocals by Lauren Denitzio that swoon in their off-key awkwardness, much in the same vein as John K. Samson. The nonchalant opening riff of “Promise Me (You'll Never Say That In Front Of My Friends)” is particularly charming. Another great thing about super-short EPs is they keep us interested for a potential full-length or, even better, subsequent EPs. It’s good to hear Worriers are sticking with it—and will hopefully deliver more stellar pop-punk songs soon." - Alternative Press |
